Loyola-Chicago to the A10

My thought is that UMass might be moving on as they upgraded their football to FBS. Not saying that was a good move, but it seems to be a possibility.

It appears our future conference mate has been hit with a pause. Maybe VCU could host Norfolk State?

Never understood why a conference would ban a team that might actually earn it some extra money in the tournament by winning a game.

Am i the only one really excited about adding Loyola Chicago to our schedule next year?!

SF, how does it work in the A10 if we play a team once or twice in a season? Would nice to be able to play them home and away in their inaugural season.

I‘m excited and scared they will knock us down a peg in the A-10 standings. But hopefully it
will also help us recruit some Midwest talent.
They seem to be a good solid program and that going only bode well for the A-10.

You are not alone! I live in Chicago and can’t wait to see the spiders! They are a good squad. Lost a ton of talent but just picked up this d2 whale who averaged 21 and 11. I’m excited to see what they can do

The A-10's home-and-home matchups are usually driven primarily by trying to pair up teams that are expected to be good so that the best teams have the toughest schedules and the most opportunities for quality wins. There's also a an eye toward rivalries and geography.

With 15 teams and an 18-game schedule, we'll only have four home-and-homes instead of five. VCU will obviously be one of them.

Great insight, thanks.

He is a legend in his mind, just like certain posters on this board.

We sleep in May!
I am legend. But geez, Rothstein agreeing with me makes me quite unsettled. I will take Rothstein's opinion though over the venerable basketball mind of Paul Queally and his little engine that could take on our program.

Think big, dream big. That seems positively Rothsteinish. But seriously, we do need that mantra. Hopefully, our run this year has changed some of the mindset over at the Robins Center. Time will tell.

Agree that we need to think big. With the latest promotions, and no mention of an athletic PF being recruited in the portal - I am afraid that we may be sliding into that complacency mode. Waiting to see who else we can land in the portal. Quinn is solid, but if it is he and Funk and we are done, not going to be super impressed. Some good players in the patriot league, but watching some games this year I really think the competition and athletes are a peg below the A10.

My thoughts exactly. Unfortunately, it seems that the outcome of the great run is to coast versus building on the momentum. Could be that UR staff did all it could, but couldn’t close.

agreed it's a peg lower, but TJ and Blake came from lower conferences. if you can play, you can play.
waiting to see Crabtree take the next step being healthy.

Agreed. A-10 is clearly a much better league with much better athletes and neither Funk or Quinn are super athletic even by Patriot League standards.

Then again, Davidson has made a living in the A-10 with its athletes.
