I think that Jacksonville will play us closer than we think. We are probably better than people predict, but I think Jacksonville is also going to be better than people predict.

JAX v UR -26.5

I would love nothing better than to flush the Dolphins down the toilet. That said, I would be hard pressed to spot this number at the end of the month against anybody. There are far too many variables that need to play out before we should be deemed a favorite of this magnitude.

Our team is coming off a season to forget...a season where mistakes were made on the field AND IN THE COACH'S ROOM (evidenced by this year's coaching shakeup). Until the players AND COACHES prove they are D1-worthy, let's temper the odds maker's enthusiasm a little with a dose of reality. Thus far, I am liking what I see, but it's only August 9th.

Line has already moved to 23.5

Agree with your collective assessment about JAX.
Their QB is elusive and their running backs are big(warm up for BC).Our Lines should control the game but those Dolphin runners will pose problems if they get to our 2nd level.

“The pieces are in place offensively, starting with quarterback Calvin Turner Jr.(6-1,195).The Dolphins finished third in the FCS last season with 3,453 total yards rushing. A year after playing defensive back, Turner took over at QB and rushed for 1,431 yards and 17 TDs. The strong rushing attack also brings back its No. 2 rusher Garnett Nicolas(6-2,225) and No. 3 rusher Irvin Riley(5-9,190).Nicolas was a 2018 HERO Sports Freshman All-American.”

Yeah I wouldn't lay 15 points to anyone until we've proven something on the field.

Villanova crushed a favored Colgate team on the road. Very impressive win. They (Nova) have a transfer Qb and look to be back to their formidable selves again.

You get a lot of wild swings with FCS lines b/c only a few offshore betting sites carry it and so with "minimal" $ being wagered they are more prone to those swings. But hey money is money if using those sites and getting paid out, but that can be a shady proposition. There is no true Vegas line on FCS yet. I'm hopeful that changes and FCS eventually comes into the mainstream with lines, but normally you never see Vegas lines except for games with FBS vs FCS, and the playoffs.

Still interesting to look at, and I think a good opportunity to jump on the Spids at current # if you were so inclined.

That number seems ripe for the taking. Against a non scholarship school we should wear them down on the lines and be able to run the ball. Then if a triple option team starts trying to pass to catch up then the points can really snowball.

We need a fast start. We need to crush any confidence JU has and build our own. Can’t play from behind against the option. Can’t wait for the lots to open at 3. Go Spiders.

Would be curious for feedback from folks that attended. Flew back from the west coast today and just watched the taped game. Thought running game was impressive but worried about passing. On defense the front looked nasty.

#1 defense looked strong. #2 not so much.
Put the ball on the ground twice, one by Mancuso.
Mancuso missed some wide open receivers, two should have been TDs. Brackenridge with one of the worst punts you will ever want to see. RBs all looked strong. OL blew open holes all night long. Xavier's knee looks like back to normal. Jake Larson has got quite a leg. Put some kickoff into end zone. Extra points looked effortless. Lot of improvement needed for this team to be a factor however.

I think our defense has a chance to be really good. The d line can get after it and we looked improved in the secondary. We played a lot of guys in the second half after the game was under control. I liked that the offensive line dominated a team it should dominate. That’s something we have not always done the past couple of years. RBs looked impressive, especially Dykes. QBs were effective running, but too many misses in the passing game. JM missed 2 open receivers at the end of the 1st half that have to be TDs in CAA play.

Team looked to have more energy and focus than last year. We are a young team with some talent. Lots to build on tonight. 1-0.

I stand corrected here. I happened to be at casino with sportsbook last night and there were Fcs vs fcs lines. Hadn’t seen that before. Now not all of them & unfortunately Spiders weren’t one of them but saw UD game, Chattanooga & Stony Brook games among a few others.

But encouraging to see. Hopefully will continue to come into mainstream and we’ll get Vegas/U.S. based lines especially CAA games outside the garbage offshore. They probably didn’t post until day of the game but it’s a start.
