New Hampshire 26, Towson 14

New Hampshire quarterback Bret Edwards was 24-of-32 passing for 262 yards and 2 TD's and safety Evan Horn recorded two of the Wildcats' four interceptions in a 26-14 victory over Towson. The win was the 100th in regular-season conference play for UNH coach Sean McDonnell, who became just the third coach to reach the milestone. UNH (2-0, 2-0 CAA) took a 13-0 advantage early in the second quarter on a 4-yard TD run by Carlos Washington, Jr. and a 32-yard scoring run by Dylan Laube. Towson (1-1, 0-1) answered with a 2-yard Devin Matthews TD run, but the Wildcats got a 54-yard scoring pass from Edwards to Sean Coyne late in the second quarter to make it 20-7 at halftime. The Tigers cut the deficit to 20-14 early in the fourth quarter as Caleb Smith caught an 11-yard TD pass from Jeff Miller with 12:21 to play. However, Laube hauled in a 2-yard TD pass from Edwards with 10 minutes remaining to provide UNH a cushion. Horn sealed the victory with his second interception. Laube rushed for a team-high 77 yards, while Coyne had nine catches for 113 yards. Eli Lewis paced the UNH defense with nine tackles and 2.0 sacks, while Horn had eight stops along with the two picks. For Towson, Miller came off the bench in the second half and threw for 147 yards, while Jerry Howard, Jr. ran for 97 yards on 18 carries. Keyvone Bruton had eight tackles and a fumble recovery.

James Madison 55, Maine 7

Cole Johnson completed 25-of-30 passes for 379 yards and 4 TD's to lead James Madison (2-0, 1-0 CAA) to a 55-7 victory over Maine (0-2, 0-2 CAA). Antwane Wells, Jr. had eight catches for a career-best 179 yards and 2 TD's as the Dukes piled up 512 yards of total offense. Kicker Ethan Ratke booted a pair of field goals to tie the FCS record with 75 career field goals and he set a new FCS record for points by a kicker with 417. JMU's defense held the Black Bears to 194 total yards. JMU was up 10-0 at the end of the first quarter and then broke the contest open as Johnson connected on TD passes of 73 and 51 yards to Wells to make it 24-0 at halftime. The Dukes added a TD on a blocked punt in the third quarter and got a 31-yard interception by Francis Meehan in the fourth quarter. Diamonte Tucker-Dorsey had seven tackles and a sack for the JMU defense. Maine lost starting quarterback Joe Fagnano to a leg injury in the first quarter. Reserve Derek Robertson threw a 22-yard TD pass to Andre Miller in the third quarter. Fofie Bazzie made 10 tackles for the Black Bears.

Rhode Island 16, UAlbany 14

Rhode Island's defense recorded five sacks and held UAlbany to 215 total yards to earn a 16-14 road win at UAlbany. Andre Blackett recorded a sack on fourth down to end a UA drive at midfield in the final seconds to give the Rams (2-0, 1-0 CAA) the victory. The Great Danes (0-2, 0-1 CAA) took a quick 7-0 lead on a 7-yard TD pass from Jeff Undercuffler to Mike Gray. URI responded with a 1-yard TD run by Justice Antrum and a 50-yard punt return for a TD by Coby Tippett early in the second quarter that made it 13-7. The Great Danes went back on top, 14-13, on Karl Mofor's 2-yard TD run with 3:36 to play in the third period, but a 22-yard field goal by C.J. Carrick put URI ahead 16-14 with 13:25 left. The Great Danes drove from their own 13-yard line to the URI 49 in the final minute before the Rams got their fifth sack to start 2-0 for the third time in the past four years. URI quarterback Kasim Hill threw for 147 yards, while Antrum ran for 84 yards and a TD on 14 carries. Blackett had a team-high eight stops, while Westley Neal, Jr. recorded 5.0 tackles for loss. For UAlbany, Undercuffler passed for 166 yards and Mofor contributed 75 yards rushing.

Stony Brook 24, Colgate 3

Stony Brook (1-1) used a powerful running game and a strong defensive performance to earn a 24-3 road victory over in-state foe Colgate. The Seawolves piled up 287 yards on the ground and 427 yards overall while limiting the Raiders to just 240 yards in the contest. Ty Son Lawton tied a career-high with 134 yards and a TD rushing, while Seba Nekhet added 96 yards on 15 attempts. Trailing 3-0 at the end of the first quarter, Stony Brook took the lead for a good on a 64-yard TD pass from Tyquell Fields to Shawn Harris, Jr. early in the second quarter. The Seawolves took control in the third quarter when Fields snuck in from a yard out to cap a 15-play, 81-yard drive that made it 17-3. Lawton's 10-yard scoring run early in the fourth quarter put the game away. The Seawolves' defense made four sacks and picked off two passes. Brandon Lopez had seven tackles and 2.5 TFL, while Carthell Flowers made five stops, 3.0 TFL's and 1.5 sacks.

Richmond 31, Lehigh 3

Richmond (2-0) broke loose for 28 second-quarter points and rolled past Lehigh 31-3. The Spiders used a balanced offensive attack to accumulate 350 yards, while their defense held the Mountain Hawks to 224 total yards. Down 3-0 entering the second quarter, Richmond went on top on a 7-yard TD pass from Joe Mancuso to Aaron Dykes early in the period. The Spiders continued the momentum as Savon Smith scored on a 2-yard run on the next drive and a 2-yard TD run by Dykes made it 21-3 with 3:52 left in the second quarter. The Spiders capped the big quarter as Mancuso hit Leroy Henley with a 4-yard TD pass. Mancuso passed for 131 yards and 2 TD's. On the ground, Smith picked up 74 yards on 12 carries and Dykes had 71 yards on 12 attempts. Defensively, Tristan Wheeler made a team-high 10 stops, while Darius Reynolds made 2.0 TFL's and 1.5 sacks.

Villanova 55, Bucknell 3

Quarterback Dan Smith threw for three touchdowns and ran for another in the first half as Villanova (2-0) cruised over Bucknell, 55-3. Smith found the end zone on a 1-yard run in the first quarter and followed with TD passes of 21 yards to Jaaron Hayek, 10 yards to Jaquan Allen and 9 yards to Rayjoun Pringle that made it 28-0 early in the second quarter. Pringle also had a 49-yard TD recepton from Connor Watkins. Villanova's defense held Bucknell to 89 total yards, including just 21 on the ground. Christian Benford intercepted two passes and returned on 19 yards for his first career touchdown.

Delaware 27, Saint Francis 10

Delaware (2-0, 1-0 CAA) reeled off 20 unanswered points in the second and third quarters to post a 27-10 victory over Saint Francis in its home opener. The Blue Hens led 6-3 late in the second quarter when DeJoun Lee scored a 1-yard TD run just 15 seconds before halftime to up the margin to 10. Delaware added a 1-yard run by Anthony Paoletti midway through the third period to go up 20-3 and put the game away on a 30-yard TD pass from Nolan Henderson to Thyrick Pitts with 12:22 remaining. Henderson finished 18-of-23 passing for 259 yards and a TD, while Lee rushed for a team-high 58 yards and caught two passes for 40 yards. Delaware's defense limited St. Francis to 300 total yards. Liam Trainer made five tackles, a tackle for loss and had an interception for UD.

Elon 24, Campbell 23

Elon (1-1) rallied from a 10-point deficit and stopped a two-point conversion attempt with 1:11 remaining to edge Campbell, 24-23, on the road. The Phoenix jumped out to an early 7-0 advantage on a 28-yard TD pass from Davis Cheek to Jackson Parham, but the Camels tallied 17 unanswered points to go up by 10 early in the third quarter. Elon battled back to within three on a 6-yard TD toss from Cheek to Chandler Brayboy with 6:22 to go in the third quarter. After a Tre'Von Jones interception, the Phoenix regained the lead on McKinley Witherspoon's 4-yard scoring run with 9:46 left. Jones recovered a fumble that eventually led to a 47-yard Skyler Davis field goal with 2:18 on the clock, but Campbell was able hit a long TD pass with 1:11 left. Elon's defense was able to stop the 2-point try to secure the win. Cheek finished 22-of-37 for 269 yards and 2 TD's, with Parham making four catches for 69 yards. Jones finished with a team-high nine tackles, a sack, a fumble recovery and an interception.

William & Mary 24, Lafayette 3

William & Mary's defense held Lafayette to 256 total yards and came up with 14 points on a pair of pick sixes as the Tribe (1-1) topped Lafayette, 24-3, in its home opener. Leading 3-0 in the third quarter, W&M got a 78-yard interception return for a score from Gage Herdman with 4:53 to go in the period. The Tribe offense came up with a big play to close out the third period as Hollis Mathis hit Cole Blackman with a 37-yard TD pass that made it 17-0. W&M sealed the victory when Quinn Osborne returned an interception 18 yards for a TD with 2:11 left in the contest. Mathis threw for 96 yards in the game, with Blackman making three catches for 56 yards. Defensively, John Pius made a team-high seven tackles with two sacks, while Will Kiely had five stops and 3.5 TFL.
