...things were already bad enough at Cary Field on this late November day in 2016...Kyle Lauletta had been lost with a terrible knee injury...UR was losing in the 2nd half...a Spiders win likely got us home field into the 2nd through the second round of the Playoffs...

the Spiders were trying to find a way w/o Lauletta and had seemingly gotten our mojo working without KL when this happened...a giant hit...the fumble recovery and ensuing TD changed the entire momentum and direction of the game...

and then the call and reversal of everything...one of the worst calls I have ever seen "live" in the rivalry...five years later I can't let it go!

don't expect any calls Saturday, but go to The Reservation to play with this emotion...

Go Spiders!

That really was a total abomination. I remember it well. Also, bring back those unis, please.

You can see clearly in Satch's video that the Indian quarterback lowered his head right before the impact. Imagine all the better angles they had on Flo Sports.

Targeting calls are often brutal. Tribe had a bad one in the 2nd quarter against JMU Saturday.

That play alone killed us. The QB lowered his helmet. It looked like our guy tried to go under their QB. What is our guy to do?

More W&M talk. I would say their path to the playoffs runs through Richmond.

The Capital Cup is always exciting, and although the Tribe will likely be favored in this one, let’s not count out the Spiders. It will be an emotional day for the seniors on both sides of the field, but give me the Tribe in the final game of the year to punch its ticket to the FCS playoffs.

can't remember exactly who made the hit for the Spiders and have had some difficulty finding a game summary that includes the info...

I'm thinking it might have been Justin Rubin...anyone know for sure?

bonus points for anyone who can tell me who ran it back for the TD...I have no idea...

I want to make sure these guys get credit for this unforgettable hit and TD in future years...

Thanks...

Go Spiders!

Rubin definitely made the hit. I saw his parents at a game the following season and they were still pi$$ed about the call.
