With Spiders basketball being such a downer, it's going to be a long winter for most Richmond fans...

Kyle's opportunity and potential for success gives us something positive to look forward to...congratulations to him and I enjoy following his progress...

this amateur video which is mostly Kyle from his 2015 season against Maine helped pull me out of another basketball loss...he shows his triple threat talent: pass, run and block...you may find it entertaining and something to take your mind off of other Spiders disappointments...

Go Kyle. Go Spiders!

ESPN's Mel Kiper Jr. sees UR's Kyle Lauletta as possible mid-round NFL Draft choice

Former University of Richmond quarterback Kyle Lauletta will participate in the Senior Bowl on Jan. 27 in Mobile, Ala.

ESPN draft analyst Mel Kiper Jr. said Thursday he sees former University of Richmond quarterback Kyle Lauletta as potentially a mid-round selection in the late-April NFL draft.

Lauletta is playing Jan. 27 in the Senior Bowl, in Mobile, Ala., as a member of the South team with former Virginia quarterback Kurt Benkert. The Senior Bowl includes 12 players from FCS schools.

“He’s got a chance at the Senior Bowl in Mobile to enhance his stock,” Kiper said of Lauletta. “He throws a nice ball. He can give you enough mobility. To me, he’s got a chance to be up in that third-to-fifth-round area with a good week in Mobile.”

Lauletta ranks among the top 11 quarterback prospects, in Kiper’s estimation.

“Depending on how it goes in Mobile. ... I kind of wanted to wait a little bit to see how he does down there against the elite competition, but you could be looking at anywhere between a third- and fifth-round draft choice,” said Kiper.

Lauletta, who is 6-foot-3 and 215 pounds, will participate in the NFL combine, which takes place Feb. 27-March 5 in Indianapolis.

Lauletta, a resident of Exton, Pa., was a three-year starter who finished his UR career as the school’s all-time leader in passing yards (10,465), passing touchdowns (73) and total offense (10,651). He was named the 2017 CAA offensive player of the year after leading the league in passing (3,737 yards).

Lauletta is training in Florida.

A chance potentially to be one of the most successful players out of Richmond football at the next level certainly.

Just out of curiosity where would y'all rank Lauletta all time among Qb's at UR? 1st??
My opinion is that talent wise he's likely the best we've seen. I know he's the best I've seen In my lifetime and conscious memory of football that starts at about 2005. I still hold a soft spot in my heart for Eric Ward as he delivered us a national title and I loved the way he competed every week he was out there. Eric Ward reminds me of Bryan Schor from jmu, not a lot of talent but took care of the football very well and made big plays when he had to.

Ward will be remembered for his leadership skills which were tremendous and his ability to find a way to win. Micheal Strauss was very good also, but has been overshadowed by Ward's team success and Lauletta's personal success.

Buster O'Brien from the 60s was drafted by the 49ers, Rob Blier, Eric Ward, Michael Strauss were all excellent QBs with many different
abilities. Lauletta may have all the skills that made him one of the best. I hesitate to say he is the best for those that preceded him were
all great and accomplished a lot.

Anybody want to add Corp to that list?

Not enough success on any of the teams he played on in my opinion. The one full year he did play we went 3 and 8 with no CAA wins. That was the worst season we've had since I can remember.

Cannot believe I am going to agree with the youngster! Corp's career was too injury plagued.

Corp was a gamer and tough as nails. He took big hit after big hit that entire season and kept coming. Broke the single game completion percentage record against Towson. Put him behind an o-line that is just "decent" and he would be remembered very differently. Lot of respect for that guy.

1968 Tangerine Bowl when the Spiders beat undefeated Ohio U. 49-42 watching Buster O' Brien air it out to All American Walker Gillete is tough to top because at that time there was no distinction between Division 1 programs. However Lauletta may be the best QB in school history and if not the best one of the top 2 or 3.

Aaron did not have the supporting cast like Lauletta or Straus to be fair to him.

With all the success Lauletta is having, I'm glad Coch Huesman is using that to pitch prospective recruits about the success players at UR have professionally in football or in other aspects of their lives. Another example of how Coach Huesman gets it!

Add to that Aaron's mentoring of Kyle his senior year, had to be a huge plus!

Please not the $hithole that is the Washington Redskins.

Steelers would be nice however...

They don't take FCS guys. Four guys from each of the P5 conferences and an additional four total from the other FBS conferences to make up a "wildcard" team.
