Looks like Richmond has gotten a verbal commitment from Michael Marino, a defender from NJ, who is ranked 4 stars and 81st in the class of 2026. I believe this is the 2nd top 100 commit we’ve had next to Ryan Lanchbury who had a stellar career here. Great job staff!

Didn’t see this posted anywhere else, but looks like we’re hosting the quarter finals for MLax in 2028. Pretty cool!
In addition to having the #81 ranked player in the class of 2026, looks like we have the #81 ranked player in class of 2025 in Vincent Gaylord. He is a face-off specialist which is great to see since FOs have been our Achilles heel.
Vincent Gaylord and Ryan Lanchbury attended the same CT prep school-Avon Old Farms.
Face-off specialist can literally make or break a teams season. They have become so very important.

What “I hope” this means for Richmond lacrosse is it’s an opportunity to distinguish ourselves and further become a national caliber program. Even a lot of top schools aren’t going to fully invest scholarships or NIL for MLax because of football. Right now, all things equal where we give 12.6 scholarships and no NIL and let’s say an ACC school does the same because of the cap. Then it doesn’t come as a surprise top recruits go there because of the schools history.
Now however, we have a way to distinguish ourselves. We don’t have our history because we’re a young program but what we can do is offer more scholarships than a lot of the lower schools or even NIL. Full ride to consistent top 20 Richmond with $5K spending cash might sway someone from let’s say paying out of pocket or half tuition at Syracuse.
We’ve seen what UR lacrosse can become. I get going to 48 scholarships overnight is unrealistic, but I will be incredibly disappointed if we don’t fund this program now as much as we can. Like we all know, this is the one program at UR that can realistically win a national championship in our lifetimes. It would be a shame if we didn’t take the efforts to see what our fullest potential can be.
With the house settlement, UR should be funding MBB, WBB, and MLax.

Agree that we should be but the school has indicated that we won't. I hope there's a move to reconsider.
Funding more scholarships I think will have more impact than giving NIL for lacrosse in my opinion. So even if we don’t use the house settlement money to give towards additional income for recruits, if we can somehow increase our scholarships even from 12.6 to 20, that’ll be really helpful.
Broadcast for our QF game said that MLax has only been fully funded for 2 years. Imagine how good we can be if we get ahead of the curve in terms of funding scholarships with MLax, with most P5 teams prioritizing football this year.

Agreed, whatever we can do to help the program, whether NIL or more scholies, is warranted. We're so close to having a shot at winning the whole thing. Let's do what it takes to get there.
