Khwan

Why play Paul 80-90 minutes his freshman year if they would not have been productive minutes and he would have hurt the team?

Did you not see what Solly gave us this past season? Did you really want and hope for more of that?

Put in who for a 3-4 minute span in the 1st half? So, take out our best players, put in some young reserves. and go from maybe 2 ahead to 6 down midway through the 1st half just to give some young guys who are otherwise undeserving some minutes? And then do it again in the 2nd half? Who does this? If they deserve minutes, they will get them. If not, why hurt your team just to give young guys minutes? You are asking Mooney to do things very few if any other coaches would do, and getting on him for not doing this, even though most of the other 300+ coaches don't do this either. Shouldn't you be getting on them also?

So never take your 5 best players out of the game? I don't get what you are saying. I see plenty of coaches - like 300+ -- with an 8 man regular rotation, with 2-3 other guys getting small but regular minutes. I'm not saying go all Leonard Hamilton and get 12 guys playing 15 minutes. It's easier to name the exceptions.

I was only using facts put out by your Department.

But this thread has veered way off subject, so I'll move on.

T, here again, that’s just your opinion. The reality is Buck ended up at UCSB.
Actually, it’s not an opinion, it’s fact that there are lots of guys with worse numbers than buck who ended up at better schools upon transferring.

Regardless though, this is by nature an opinion board. You offer your opinion all the time, often with no basis in fact. Shall we stop offering opinions?

Odd that the folks on here who presumably spend the most time in the RC are the ones who are crapping the most on Buck. Kid was a damn good player, it’s too bad it all wound up the way it did, and we’re not better with him being gone/

Agreed, the team may be better this year because they are a year older and wiser, but not because Buck is gone. Hard not to be better than 12-20.

I agree most coaches use about an 8 man rotation, and many times 2-3 guys get small, but regular minutes. So, that being said, why should Nick need to play less than 30 minutes to make this happen? If Jacob plays 36 minutes and Nick and Grant play 34 minutes each, that leaves 96 minutes for 5 guys with an 8 man rotation (about 19 minutes each). If 2 of these guys get a few more minutes, it might look like 22, 22, 18, 17, and 17. Even playing a 9 or 10 man rotation would still allow our top 3 guys to get the same minutes (36, 34 and 34) while still giving the other 6 or 7 guys close to 15 minutes each. So, there is no reason at all to play Nick less just to give other guys minutes. They will get them anyway.

We shouldn't forget that Khwan Fore had some good reasons for choosing to leave this program. And it had nothing to do with "being closer to home."

the most often reason given here that I argued against was that he was transferring to make the tournament. so then he chose Louisville. anyone still think that's his reason?

if he's going to play after college (and he's certainly athletic enough) it HAS to be as a PG. he's 6'0" and isn't a great range shooter. he'd play a ton here this year but he's not playing PG with Gilyard on the roster.

he needs an uptempo team and the ball in his hands.

Agree with all of this except the part about him playing a ton. I think we would want more shooting on the court this year, and if Wojcik or anyone else were not ready, maybe Nick would have moved over with a bigger lineup. We'll never know so hard to say anyone is right or wrong here.

I’d still say they have a better chance of making the NCAA next year than we do, and that’s even with sanctions looming.

Not happening. They didn't make the tourney last year, and they will be way worse this year.

My comment was relative, their chances of going to the NCAAs are far better than ours. I don't pretend that Khwan's decision was solely about making the NCAA, I expect there were a variety of factors that went into his decision, but I do expect that post-season play was at least one part of his choice.

Kwan just posted

To VT4700 and Spiderman

Since you two and Coach Mooney had relegated me to UR's bench with limited playing time due to your great incoming recruiting classes, I decided to transfer. I just wanted to report that I played 19 minutes today versus UNC and my team beat Carolina at the Dean Dome- I also got to shake Roy Williams hand after the game.
Good luck with the GW game today I will miss shaking Maurice Joseph's hand after the game.

Thanks Khwan and congrats on your 2 points scored today. And the 2 in the previous game. And the 3 points in each of the 2 games before that, and the scoreless effort before that.

Wow. Not even sure what to say to that. Talk about personally attacking a player who gave us a lot to cheer about in his 4 years as a Spider - who also happened to graduate with a UR degree. SMDH.

Thus dude is a hypocritical department troll Keef, I wouldn't take anything he says too seriously, he has an agenda, and it is not pro Spiders basketball.

It doesn't matter what the reason is, there is never an excuse for attacking one of our players or former players in such a personal way. It goes against the rules of the forum, common decency, and to paraphrase Buster Scruggs, it violates social mores.

We don’t need to stomp on Ulla and VT every time Kwan’s new team does well.

I agree N19 but look who started this thread. You post something usually to get replies and not guaranteed that will get ones that agree with your opinion. Definitely personal attacks are a no-no!

Ulla started it with “Whoa!!!” and a link to Kwan adding muscle. Seems like a positive thread for Kwan.

VT was attacked and he responded in kind.

Thanks. I guess some people on here think it is okay to throw cheap shots my way, but not okay for me to respond. Strange

You have much greater insight than Chris Mack. One day Chris will realize what you have been telling us all along.

KF - keep up the great work & playing your role against a tough schedule in a P5 conference!

I wish KF nothing but the best. He was fierce competitor for us and has carried that to Louisville.

It is ironic that he has gotten more posts as an ex-Spider than he did when playing here.

We'd be better served discussing our current players bc he can't help us anymore.
