It looks like he expects our offense to improve and our defense to get worse compared to last year relative to the field. This is probably the opposite of many on the board expect. If we can improve on offense as kenpom predicts, but also maintain or improve on defense as well we could be very good.

Last year we were #51 in the preseason rankings and ended at #55.
In 2011 we were #59 preseason and ended #40.

I can't wait to see the team in action, I think we are a top 50 team this year and will make the NCAAs.

Wish I knew how our young guards played during yesterday's scrimmage. That would answer a lot of the uncertainty to me.

The one I'm interested in is Cal at 47. To me that indicates that since newcomers have fewer numbers to analyze they have less of an impact on his predictions. If we are 64 with only counting the juniors, seniors and Wood that is encouraging.

The freshmen are assumed to be as good as our average player for the past 5 seasons. If our recruits are better than they have been on average over the past 5 years then kenpom is undervaluing them. As for Wood, his stats from VTech were not good, if he can play well in our system kenpom is undervaluing him as well.
