Josh Jones

I agree, him getting more playing time is going to be a bonus for us in the future.

Josh was a beast; really athletic. It was unfortunate that on one fast break, he got a feed and was going to sky for a slam before getting hammered by a Fordham defender. He showed his toughness and resolve as he stayed in the game.

Haven't looked at the box score, but I imagine he had 3-5 rebounds. He hustled a lot on defense and looked strong when we started pressing and trapping. He is built for that kind of defense. He's also pretty good at throwing alleyoops. Too bad that one wasn't completed on the other end, but it's the second perfect one he's thrown this year.

Offensively, he still is very unsure of himself and doesn't seem ready to be a scoring option. He bricked that three from straight on off the backboard, I think because he wasn't really expecting to take it in the first place. He seems like someone who needs to get into the flow of the game in order to build his confidence up. Hopefully as that happens, he will be looking more for his shot and ready to take it at any time.

He had 9 rebounds.

Josh played well last night. Loved seeing that he was crashing the offensive glass on a few plays. I think a short bench will benefit him more than anyone as he can play with not as much fear of making a mistake and getting yanked for the rest of the game - he has to play now.

I like Active Josh much more than Wallflower Josh. I wish he would take his game from inside out, and start with drives to get aggressiveness and confidence going, and then try the threes.

My thoughts on Josh for what they are worth.

1. Good solid defender

2. Very athletic, can run the court.

3. Very tentative on offense, the only shot he seems really comfortable taking is the 3 ball. Has a reputation as a good shooter, but that has not translated yet. I think he has taken like a total of 3 shots or something all year from 2, so clearly not comfortable inside the arc yet.

Basically if you are a Trey Davis fan, you are probably going to like Josh Jones. JJ has a better touch from 3, but probably not as good from Trey in driving to the basket. I see him being a solid bench guy as an A-10 player, which for us, probably means he will be playing starters minutes his junior and senior year.

There's going to be a lot of teams trying to keep up with the Joneses before their careers are over. Great upside. Smithen too.

Josh did a nice job last night. Glad no one had told him we don't rebound yet. His 9 rebounds are the reason we were only out rebounded by 10 last night.

Maybe we can split time with TJ 10 minutes Josh 10minutes DT 25 minutes, sounds like a plan , albeit a lousy one.

He can shoot, I'd start him vs. Trey and/or Deion. See how it goes.

Hey, JJ throws a great lob to DT. Since that was a called play couple games ago and he's getting into the flow more now, think he can also give us some assists and find his shot. Will be interesting to see how his minutes play out. Hope he takes great advantage of this PT.

Josh and Kadeem are WAY to tentative on offense. With Kadeem that isn't that surprising considering that he is a freshman, but Josh needs to step it up.

Completely agree. This is to me is one of the most disturbing trends in our recruiting is that we keep bringing in kids who frankly looked scared on offense. Think back to Kevin Anderson, Gonzo, Kendall, SDJ, Geriot as freshman. Those guys were confident offense players as freshman, who were not afraid to make a play on offense, even if it didn't work out.

I am a big fan of Kadeem because I think he is a very smart player, always in good position, crafty defender, but man I really would like to see him do something besides facilitate our offense for other players. We have way too many players right now, who flat out either can't score and/or don't even look to score. Josh Jones, Kadeem, Trey, Deion. Half of our rotation fit that bill.
