JMU

I'm pulling for JMU, the CAA needs to be on top again after total domination by North Dakota State for the past 5 years. I would like to think that rational JMU fans would be pulling for the Spiders if the situation was reversed. GO DUKES
I can promise you that none of their fans would ever pull for us so we should never pull for them.

They (JMU) hate us! They flately refuse to refer to our school as UR. Instead they use "RU" which means Radford University. They make snide remarks about Robins Stadium. I will never root for those Aholes! Regardlrss of them representing out conference in the FCS championship.

Go Youngstown Penguins

I'm glad I deal with a different grade of JMU grads. Most of them I know are proud of their school, we are not their favorite but they would clearly pull for a Spider victory under the reverse condition.

As difficult as it is it say under the circumstances, GO CAA!!! I believe the Dillweeds do it. Only intensifies our rivalry and adds to the reputation of the CAA.

I don't want them to win but the rivalry has already been intensified even more. Idk what our new coaches will do about it but hopefully Huesman can do something similar to what Coach Houston is doing at jmu. That guy is an amazing coach, have y'all seen some of his pregame speeches? They are unreal, as much as I hate everything about jmu they get me fired up and ready to go play a football game. We need something like that at UR and hopefully Huesman can do it.

Tougher matchup for the Dukebags today, YSU is built for this type of weather. Not sure JMU is. That being said I still expect roughly a 4 point win by the Dukes. Trott and Co do just enough in defense to give them the win.

Honestly I'll be fine with either result. I have enough JMu friends that I would be happy for and enough JMu enemies to give them crap if they lose. Win-win.

.A lot of my friends attended JMU too, we have a very friendly relationship. I am pulling for them to win, it aids our rivalry as well as K.E. says the reputation of the CAA as the best in FCS.

Sorry guys, I just can't pull for a school whose fan base constantly makes fun of our school name, the average age of our fans, and stadium!
Several of you indicate you are pulling for JMU due to it representing the CAA. If it were any other CAA school in the final, I'd favor it. Just can't pull for JMU. In my view no UR Spider fan or alum should ever favor those JMU jerks!

I am still confused how JMU winning 90 straight FCS games would be helpful for UR even if they are in the CAA...

Exactly all it means is that they are going to get even better recruits and will just become another NDSU and we definitely don't want to be their little brother.

Good point VTSpider! Our basketball program suffers the stigma of being VCU's little brother in the Richmond area. We don't want our football program suffering the same fate in regards to JMU!

Congrats to Bob Trott. Thought you got roughed up here unfairly sometimes, but Dillweeds defense improved markedly throughout the season. Last year they had the talent, but woeful. Quite a turnaround. Kudos to Coach Trott.

D was much more varied than at UR -- was it Trott or directions from the HC? Let me add kudos to Jeff Hanson & Bryan Thweatt. With this kind of turn around, I have to wonder if Houston and staff will be there next season.

Let's hope NOT.

Maybe now JMU will join FBS. Funny how JMUers looked down on FCS saying that being FCS is degrading to JMU. From the JMU Clowns that expressed that opinion I now hear crickets chirping.

That's on us not VCU or JMU. We need to compete

I agree, but we also need to make sure the Administration knows that we feel it is important that we are able to compete. Let the Administration know the teams need the players and the tools to allow them to compete.

Being private, we are behind the eight ball when competing against state schools that are ten times our size. Since 1978 and the establishment of lAA/FCS, only three private schools have won the NC: Furman (1988), Richmond (2008) and Villanova (2009). Even though it is more difficult for private schools to win the National Title, I am glad UR remains private. If not for the Robins gift in 1969. UR would have become a state school. Prior to the Robins gift, UR was on "life support" and close to going "belly up".

Maybe the JMU Dukes will be distracted by the "eye candy" when they go to play ECU Sept. 2nd. I understand from one of my sister in laws, an ECU grad, the ECU campus is temming with Pirate Bikini Babes that time of year!

None as desirable as your smokeshow of a wife, I'm sure!

Is there any benefit to CAA football members if JMU wins this thing? NDSU won 5 straight championships, and they never pulled any of the MVFC members up to their level. I can't see any. If not, then I have to root for Youngstown. They're the most depressed location in the U.S., both in economical and in climate. Aside from Jim Tressel and Ron Jaworski, I can't think of anyone else associated with YSU.
I mean, Youngstown State is in the MVFC, so...

I hate them more than just about anything I can think of. The school changes people when they go there. I have some very good friends that go there but they have all became somewhat d0uch3b@6$ since they have gone there. Everyone there carries themselves with something I can't even explain and I can't stand it. They think of us as a bottom dweller in this league even though we beat them and out-do them consistently. I had a friend tell me that UR wasn't really that good a couple weeks ago, which is ridiculous. They are ignorant, stupid, terrible fans who pretend to know about football but do not understand it well at all. They get more excited about the cheering and other details but not actually the game. What other school still brings up that they hosted a pregame show? (college Gameday) even though they lost the game which is the only thing that matters. I guarantee you if we hosted college Gameday but lost the actual game I wouldn't want to talk about it/remember it and I think most of y'all feel the same way. I would give so much to put on the pads for the Red and Blue and take a brutal shot at one of their players (most especially schor). No one who is a true UR fan should ever root for jmu.

JMU fan here, couldn't resist reading and replying to this thread when someone pointed it out on our board, especially reading the ones like this... Cracked me up, some of you guys are nuts(but hey so are some of ours). I love to hate you guys, it's a really fun rivalry between two schools/teams that are both very good in very different ways.

It's pretty insane to make us out to be a bunch of classless tools for calling you guys RU, Ticks, etc. when you guys call us a women's college, Pukes, Barneys, etc. though. I certainly don't think any of those names on either side cross a line in any way, I mean do you just not like sports rivalries?

College GameDay, especially at an FCS school, is huge, and our fanbase did an awesome job taking advantage of it. Of course we're upset we lost that game, but that doesn't take away how awesome it is to get that kind of recognition from ESPN.

I could go on and on, but this has already gotten a little long anyway so thanks to those that cheered for us or were at least respectful. For what it's worth, I cheered for you guys to make it to Frisco too, a rivalry rematch of a great game for the championship would've been awesome. When you guys are in and we aren't, I'm pretty much neutral... I don't cheer for you guys like I would other CAA schools or maybe ODUh, but I don't cheer against you guys like I would cheer like hell against VCU or GMCC. You guys have some fans that I'd say cross the line just like we have some that do, but I don't think either fanbase is like that as a whole like GMCC and VCU are. Mostly a good, fun rivalry. Definitely don't see it going down hill with Kevin Johnson at QB.

Quick post to say the only time I wouldn't want UR to win a natty was if they were playing JMU in it. I was glad to see you guys win it in 2008.

FRS - never change.

VT_Spider - 21-16.

I went back to check records, Huesman vs Houston (UTC vs Citadel) Huesman leads 2-0
