great guys. as always in our program.
interesting quotes from Jacob that the freshmen are playing better in games than in practice.

I think our System of offense and defnese of team makes player evaluation in practice for yes time to play against real opponent big problem. Magic spot on court for game time sometimes more important I think in past than now. I never understand the years DT all the playing time except he performs to magic spot in SYSTEM practices . . High ball screen entry pass to pivot now is option for any player instead of look at pivot and dribble more. This I think is main reason that our Team plays against OTHER TEAMS and without time in game , even small times in all the season more time in big wins, makes poor evaluation of GAME talent and then little player substitution. Andre Keep the Fight. and yes very nice pivot entry with left hand and good dribble drive defense beating player to spot with hands up always challenge , I think no bullfighting in your home country , no waving to dribbler goes to hoop. Keep the Fight.

I typically only understand about one third of what CoachFezz proclaims yet it still makes perfect sense.

I mean, I get some of what he's saying. It doesn't matter if its 2009, 2011 or 2018. Coming down the floor on offense I know exactly what's going to happen on 90% of every trip. Dribble across the top of the 3 point line, small pass to flashing big man at the elbow. He holds the ball up high so not to get it picked and then looks for the cutter to the basket. Then he passes back out to a guard. Swing the ball, repeat same steps or pass long the perimeter looking for a 3. Take shot either outside or inside and have no rebounders around the basket. Wash, rinse, repeat.

offense is not the problem. we work through the low post a ton now. and we have a forward who attacks the rim. and a PG who gets in the lane.

21 assists last game (Jacob with 9)
21 assists against Georgetown (Jake with 10)

agreed but I thought defense looked a little better. we won't know for sure for a few games.

If you watch any team constantly, you pick up their offense. Take Kansas for example, they LOVE the weave by their guards/small forward.

As Sman stated, offense hasn’t been an issue. Really, it hasn’t been an issue for most of Mooney’s tenure, especially since he’s adapted to letting the team play more up tempo. The offense has been on the curve or even helping to lead the curve of positionless basketball.

The defense however is a mess. And while I still enjoy the matchup zone when it’s run properly, it’s very difficult to do so, everyone has to be on the same page, which usually means upperclassmen as they have more experience with it. In my mind, Mooney’s biggest mistake has been so rigid in his defensive system, and not willing to adjust to personnel.

Why are we complaining about the offense again? We shoot 50%, and that's with some atrocious performances from 3 in a couple games. But even then, the offense functions just fine because they are wide open three pointers.

I think the bullfighting comment from Fezz is the relevant one. Andre looks like he can slide his feet laterally enough to stop dribble penetration, much like Khwan could do. We need more of that. Sal looked decent at it, but looks incredibly gullible on ball fakes so far.
