Is MW out a positive or negative?

Buzz didn't recruit Wood, he wasn't at Tech until Wood had already transferred to Richmond.
I think he meant he's a good judge of talent in that he convinced Wood to leave. I thought Williams was hired and a month or so later Wood decided he was done playing basketball, then a little while later he committed to us.

As for MW - - there was one play last night that says it all to me.

VCU took a shot. MW had good rebounding position but didn't actually box out, he really just turned around - - didn't get into Mo Allie at all. Mo Allie pushed him more under the basket and when the rebound came off they both went up to get it. MW had it first, but because he had been pushed sorta under the hoop too far he had it straight over his head instead of in front of you like you want (need) to. Mo Allie grabbed it a split sec. after MW. Immediately wrestled it away from MW who then committed a soft foul slapping at the ball as Mo Allie laid it in and then made the FT to complete the 3 point play. So many little things in that one 2-3 sec. span that show that what MW lacks quite frankly is toughness - - mental and physical. (1) Failure to seek out contact on his box out; (2) allowing himself to get pushed into a worse rebounding position than he initially had; (3) lost a scrap (and lost it quickly too) for the ball in which he had the initial advantages of both grabbing it first and inside position (inside position allows you to pull rebounds straight overhead down while the guy behind must pull up (and/or back) which should be weaker position) and then (4) a silly (non-tough) foul where the slap had no chance to stop the basket. If you are going to foul there you have to foul HARD, not take a little swipe at the ball while the man who just abused you is finishing you off.

That's correct. It was about six weeks after Buzz was hired that Marshall said he was giving up basketball but staying at Tech. It was about six weeks after that that he officially transferred to UR.

Not so, MW still at Tech when Buzz was hired. Buzz evidently didn't try to talk him out of quitting or transferring. Buzz didn't recruit him obviously. MW had good things to say about Buzz after they talked. Upon transfer to UR, MW described by Mooney as "talented and versatile". Same description for Chandler Diekvoss (Div2 Lindenwood Lions) and Paul Friendshuh.

Hey now - - don't be hating on Chandler with those MW comparisons. Diekvoss is leading the Lions in scoring and is 2nd in each of rebounds, assists, steals and blocks! And he led them to 2 signature wins (among their 15 wins) over Bemidji State and Hannibal-Lagrange! He's a player!

Can we make a late season trade?

Yep, Bemidji State and Hannibal-Lagrange. Paul and Jesse, take notice.
(But seriously, I like all of these kids but they were recruited and then found not good enough to play for us, Coach's decision. And there are several others that could be added to that list in the past few years. Every miss is very costly.)
