At the last home game, I noticed a ref (Raymie Styons) and thought to myself that we seem to get more than our share of him. Since I'm retired and have time to waste, I decided to do some research using box scores of our games this year (including the RMC exhibition).
Given 28 games thus far, that means there have been 84 referee slots. Contrary to my perception, Styons has only officiated two of our games this year. But I did find - at least for me - some interesting facts:
I've probably wasted enough time on this so now it's time to Netflix and chill if that's still a thing.
Given 28 games thus far, that means there have been 84 referee slots. Contrary to my perception, Styons has only officiated two of our games this year. But I did find - at least for me - some interesting facts:
- Thus far we have had 57 different refs.
- The most any ref has seen us is three times by six refs. Not taking into account the competition, we've done better with some of these refs than others. With one ref we are 3-0 (Ayers), we're 2-1 with three (Clark, Groover, Rutecki) and 1-2 with Gladden and Hull.
- Fifteen refs have seen us twice. Of these, we are 2-0 with six of them, 1-1 with eight of them leaving only one (Smith) where we are 0-2.
- I didn't see any games where the crew was exactly the same, but there were a couple of games where each of the three refs were repeats for us.
I've probably wasted enough time on this so now it's time to Netflix and chill if that's still a thing.
