CM - “Our results, obviously, aren’t where we need them to be, or want them to be. But we got better"

Point - The final four games reinforce that statement?

CM - Hopefully, we can go up and play well in Brooklyn and that’ll bode really well for next season.”

Point - Maybe he's already gotten the "you're our guy for next year" or maybe he's just politicking?

He obviously through this statement is not planning on winning the A-10 tournament since it appears that it just practice for next year. I guess he gets a checkmark for being honest and not completely delusional but still a bad statement to make when all teams should be going up there to win the A-10 tournament and go to the NCAA's.

Sorry, but he lost me at "But we got better". At that point I spit out my lunch and spilled my beer into my keyboard.

We only "got better" when we played other teams as bad as us in the middle part of the A10 season.

We win 2 games - we have a good draw with Fordham and St. Louis - both teams we can and have beaten and not really overpowering. But then fatigue sets in and Dayton is just too good anyways - so we lose easily in game 3. But begins the narrative future is bright.

Statement above tells me he is coming back and I think most assume this will happen anyways. Especially with Shafer gone now - I don't think the school wants the look of the entire basketball program flipping over.

Thing is - you bring him back next year, and I really think you are bringing him back for 2 years. Lets say we finish 14-20 this year (win 2 lose 1 in Brooklyn). Then next year we should be better, but of course so will everyone else in A10 - but if we get to 18-19 wins - middle of pack A10, then you really are thinking we are close - so you give him another year and that year becomes the NCAA or bust year. Hard to believe we win 14 games this year and win 24 next year and are in discussion for at-large.

Agree Trap. Next year we get on wrong bubble the NIT and then he gets a 10th chance to make NCAA. Which is a disgustingly low standard that I don’t think anyone in an A10 league or higher league would have.

We're not sniffing 19 wins next year with Mooney as coach, playing the hardest OOC schedule in the league. Everyone ahead of us in the A10 with maybe one or two exceptions is as young or younger than we are.

We'd be lucky to go .500 with Mooney in charge next year, which is why we need to move on fast.

Has any team ever won 5 games in 5 days? I would guess not but I don't know. It would seem to be an impossible task for any team, much less ours.

Big east tourney. I know UConn has done it. I’m oretty sure Syracuse has done it as well.

Georgia did it in 2008, including winning a doubleheader as part of that because of crazy weather issues in Atlanta that forced the whole thing to be moved to a different venue. They were sub-.500 entering the tournament and won three games in less than 30 hours. Probably the greatest and most surpassing tourney title ever.

Don't know about the "hardest OOC schedule in the league". It may be a tough schedule, but we have the following so far:

Emerald Coast Classic- Two of Tennessee, Florida St. or Purdue.
LSU at the Stu
@ Wichita State
@ College of Charleston
ODU at the Stu

We will get a couple added for the ECC that will be played at home.

This is tougher then we had this year when our OOC SOS was #2 in the Nation.

Mooney has already gone on record publicly saying that we will have the hardest OOC schedule in the league, and of course I trust him completely, hence my declaration. ;)

Would LSU still want to go there when Wade is no longer the coach?

Great question! That is one that is rolling around RamNation right now. The contact is with LSU, not Wade. It was part of his buyout when he left VCU (He, and thus LSU, had to buyout his contract at VCU) But the question is would they still want to come to VCU without Wade?

Considering that we will have a shot at opening the season Ranked next year, it would not be a bad game for them. Most schools want to play a tough schedule, and playing a team like VCU at VCU is not going to hurt your SOS one bit. In fact, win and it should help you.

Joe L had Bonny in this morning as a 13th seed. Now has Bills as a 14 and VCU dropped down to a 10 as a last 4 bye. If only Mooney's team beat them at home and those Rams might be out. :(

Unfortunately our noses will be against the glass for the 8th straight year watching the Dance and the lambs will be laughing at us.
