Really? Our program has sunk so low that we need to do this to attract fans? Just about every school has a kids club, but I cannot find another in the A10(or a few other programs that I searched) that has dress up nights to attract fans. What a joke.

Jesus christ. Every minor league baseball team has a Harry Potter night. We have a million things to complain about, and you are choosing this one?

Are we trying to be a minor league baseball team or a major(not power 5 but relevant on a national level) college basketball program? Find me another A10, or higher level, relevant men's college basketball program that has Harry Potter or Pirates and Princess nights to attract fans. I could only find two - Washington State who might have the worst attendance of any P5 school (under 3k avg attendance last year) and North Dakota.

This was only a quick google search I’ve done. It’s a widespread thing.

Pretty sure they did something like this last year too. Don’t remember if it was Star Wars or Harry Potter but don’t think it’s a big deal

it's the entertainment business. whatever it takes to get bodies in the door.
heck, some of the most loyal fanatics on this board have talked about not renewing.

This kind of promotion is pretty standard these days. Trying to get folks in the door. Anyways, aren't we already kind of a minor league baseball team at this point? Spectators come for a couple hours of relatively affordable entertainment for them or their kids with no real concept or concern of where the team is in the standings. Hey, if the team ends up winning it's a bonus portion of the night's entertainment!

At this point, I actually think the Flying Squirrels are more concerned with winning than we are, and they really have no reason to be.

Isn't Harry Potter like so 2015? I could be completely wrong, b/c thankfully my kids were never into that. Fortnite, now that's another story. Good gawd how many times do I have to take or threaten to take the xbox boys?! UR should have a Fortnite promo. We'd probably sell out including a packed student section.

I think our next promotion should be to take anyone caught Flossing on the jumbotron and put them in a stockade. Adults caught Flossing should be banned for life.

I'm not criticizing promotions and giveaways like 95% of the promotional days listed on the UCLA, Stanford, and USC sites that Nathan linked. UCLA has zero dress up days, Stanford has one Cardinal superhero cape giveaway and USC has a Star Wars day. The Star Wars day is the only similar event to what we are doing and we have at least three of them during the year. In my opinion minor league sporting events are much different than college basketball .Is anyone a die-hard fan of a minor league team and do fans really care if minor league teams win or lose? Highly doubtful. That is why they need to do events like Harry Potter night to attract fans.

I'm all for the Baby Races...nothing brings the fans like the races. I'll fly down to see the baby races.

I like the mascot basketball game, although the quality of mascot has decreased over the years. Now we're scraping by with the B-Dubs buffalo and something that looks like a beer mug.

USC never has to explain Star Wars day since George Lucas is an alum and probably a donor.

I DID fly down to see the races, last year!

To be fair, I didn’t know they were happening when I booked it, but it was a happy surprise!
I'm going to ask specifically when there are going to be baby races at the Stu and take a couple of PTO's to come down for the games. Let me know if there are going to be baby races out there in Henrico as well if you hear of them.

Best of both worlds the UR VCU game at either place has the races going on. We can wager and pick the daily double before!

I see a lot of people are interested in Harry Potter. I watched the films when I was 8 years old and I don’t remember the entire story of it, but what do I remember is that I always searched on the internet more information about Harry Potter. My father told me about different quizzes based on the film and recently I found pottermore house quiz. It is also very interesting and captivating. It reminds me of the time I was a little child with no responsibilities and no stress.
