Hardt confirms he is a phony

Terrible decision. At least he didn’t cower in his office.

I guess last years record counts as a tournament berth to him. I’ll make note to start including that in my narrative when asked about future donations. “I gave in 2020, you guys should have a record of it*.”

Just remember, if you don’t buy season tickets, you’ll save money when they start giving them away for kids club, buy one get one free nights and $5 nights.

Mooney isn't the lone problem with the basketball program. It's very apparent that the administration doesn't place a lot of emphasis on winning. As long as Hardt is there and PQ is flush our fate is sealed. I'll miss UR sports. The wife is a UVA grad, time for me to support her teams the way she has supported mine all these years. I'm out.

There was no doubt about Mooney's return. The administrations likes him and gives him credit for last year's success and understands the hardships the team went through this year. I am sorry if It is not what people on this board want to hear, but it is reality.

I do think he will have pressure to perform going forward, but it wont be the same expectations as many of the people on the board.

"While this season did not produce the outcomes we expected, we remain committed and focused on our efforts to support and improve our men's basketball program under coach Mooney's continued leadership.”

Translation - We are committed to the continuation of our basketball program lacking leadership of an AD and head coach. Continued failure is all but guaranteed.

Hardt's quote can been copied and pasted every year in March because it will continue to be relevant. The program results will be similar or worse year to year, but the support and quote are top notch.

He will never have any pressure. He just finished eighth in the league with a team that was ranked 19th in the country this year, and his AD said “everything’s great!”

hardt a phony is spot on. He’s one of the most pretentious men I’ve ever met. I didn’t just make that up. It oozes from him. He sweats butter. REGATTA.

And he’s also bad at his job. The extra 2 year extension mistake was monumentally idiotic. Plus he has ZERO respect from the commissioner of his own league.

we also have an AD problem. But Mooney’s job is still way way more important & he’s been here 16 long years so first things first. By the way nobody is more frustrated and disappointed than Mooney? Lol fooled us. I’ve watched him long enough to know he’s content w our results.

Very predictable. Hardt gave Mooney credit for NCAA last year and nothing but excuses for this season.

I’m sure that Hardt is hard at work getting the NCAA to expand to 200 teams so that he can prove the message board wrong when Mooney leads us to a NCAA appearance.

We have had hardships every year for a decade. We are not unique. Rational fans, including many who are critical of this coach, understand you’ll have a down year here or there due to circumstances or plain old bad luck. But not a decade.

It’s a pattern, it’s not going to change. It’s actually irrational to stay this course if you’re committed to championships. The only logical conclusion therefore is Hardt is not committed to winning championships.

what I want to hear from Hardt is 1 reason why Mooney is back. Just 1. He can’t articulate that. This season being challenging is not a reason why we r better off with Mooney. i think it’s reasonable to state such a reason & he would have if one existed.

I really don't believe Hardt things the way you do. He's just going through the formality of rubber stamping another year of failure.

You know I keep thinking about his statement even after the sweet 16. Something about if we are fortunate or lucky enough to get back there again. He has no ambition. We have everything in place to be a national power except for a coach that wants it or a school that wants it.

The Spiders mean the world to me, and I would be behind them 100% no matter how bad they were as long as they were making an effort to be the best. Clearly that is not the goal, so I don't have the energy to chase it. My heart can't take any more. If anything changes in the future and we show an interest in aiming for excellence, let me know.

He gave a two year window two years ago to make the tournament. He’s crediting Mooney for last year. I’ll gift him that even if it’s empty.

The real problem is that he doesn’t see what happened this year as A) a problem or B) a repetition of the past. Covid aside, we’ve seen this show before. We went 16-16 the last time we had an upperclassmen led team. Making the tournament is an anomaly, and that’s being generous.

There’s also a decent amount of revisionist history going on here. We were not by any means a lock to make it last year. I think we deserved to be in, but we were right on every bubble and may have needed two a10 tourney wins to make it, which as we all know is anything but a given.

Holy crap....I thought the original billboard was tacky and counter-productive, but after reading this TD article, I’m starting to think that whoever did the original naughty billboard was a visionary.

The University doesn’t care about your money. If you are upset with the basketball program and threatening to withhold your $1000 SAF donation, then you don’t understand math, and the size of the endowment, and the impact of your withheld $1000 donation.

Do you give $1m to Spider athletics? If not, then NOBODY CARES what you think.

The University doesn’t care about money, because they are bathing in it. But they do care about being embarrassed, which is why the original billboard struck such a nerve with the administration.

Where to from here?

For the good of Spider MBB.

Petitions are surprisingly effective...

The dumb and dumber act after the SLU debacle showed that these two were sailing the regatta together, this just confirms it.

We’ve accepted mediocrity as an institution. Time to build for the next disappointment in 3/4 years.

If we r crediting for things that didn’t happen well build Mooney a statue outside RC bc we might have won the natty.

last year was unlucky but it was never completed we don’t know. Is higher ed teaching us that uncompleted assignments r the same. This is very selective higher ed no more participation trophies. Be the highest paid guy in the university but have less accountability. These r the things we r teaching at UR? No thanks.

And the kicker...he gets to go into a 11th year with decreased expectations. They won’t even have ncaa as expectation. 10 years of underperformance and you’re reward in the 11th is to lower your quota even further. Hardt is a “meat and potatoes” guy. Quite the bottom line guy sure u r Mr. Pretentious. It’s bizarro world at UR not the real world.

I've had enough. I don't have more energy to give if we aren't aiming for the top. If we were 0-31, but doing everything we could to improve, I would be all in. But if we are ok with mediocre, I'm out.

You guys that know me, let me know if you see any signs of life over there.
