GW in game

Fore has to play more. He has a nice jump shot and has started making free throws and jumpers as he has played more. His dunk in the 2nd OT was the dagger. He is going to be a special player. Gutsy win tonight. Beat Bonnie and our RPI skyrockets with 4 very winnable games ahead.

Wish the coach would show the same guts as some of his players. Make the tough choices and tough moves.

If I see another half of basketball this year where MW does not play at least 15 minutes and KF at least 10-12 I would fire him immediately. Seriously. It's clear that those 2 are in our 5 best players and it ain't real close. We should play close to zero minutes the rest of the way with DT and TD both on the floor. The run that got them back in it came with them in together. 35-40 minutes combined for them and no more. Play whichever seems to be effective more or split it up but zero minutes together.

wow what a game a classic no doubt. I thought for sure we gave the game away numerous times. Coach is so lucky we pulled this out, you talk about the heat turning up if we lost on not fouling. That was boneheaded and it backfired. That happened once before hasn't it. I won't say anymore. Gutsy play by our kids SDJ unbelievble great game!

A win, especially on the road , can cover up a multitude of sins, but man, Mooney did his best to lose this one. Hopefully this will get Wood and Fore, who both played very well, more playing time (although they won't start).
I won't comment on Davis's three pointer in that situation or his being the guy on the miracle three pointer by GW at the end of regulation.
Still, a big win for the players which will hopefully carry over to Sunday and two big home games next week. this was one of the poorest officiated games (both ways) that I have seen in a long time. Also GW's big guys missed a ton of layups. Shawn'dre was a warrior in the second OT.
Anyone still think you don't foul with a three point lead at the end of a game? Both teams didn't tonight and it cost them in both situations.

In the decade before the 'big teams' left the A10 averaged 2.9 bids per year. The A10 has averaged 4.5 bids since. Doesn't seem mediocre to me.

Wood was very good this game because he was left open. Mooney should work on drawing up some plays that free Wood for open 3s if he wants to get consistent performance out of Wood. Maybe he already has and we are seeing the payoff this game. I was very surprised at how often GW left Wood open, Wood made them pay every time.

And did anyone else think that wood played inspired D and had some key rebounds. I dont think having him in there instead of TD is a liability on D. He plays long on D.
 
Agree on both points fatherspider. I thought Wood gave a ton more effort tonight also. He needs to consistently bring that desire he showed. I also liked that he drove to the basket.
 
Marshall likes to shoot 3's well in old,smallish A-10 gyms.Tonight at GW,3 weeks ago at Fordham.He could have more but he seemed to be taken out on every other possession.Cline only had 7 points and we scored 98 as a team with only 8 playing and 3 fouled out.Crazy.
 
Trey did hit a big 3. Khwan put up 18. Not sure how well it showed on TV but khwan was completely dominating their 2 white point guards, both end of the court. He owned them, he knew it and they knew it too.

Were Clines missed free throws clanging the rim as loud as it was on TV??

Mooney doesn't do that, never did it for Brothers either.

MW should do well at the Bonnies, then.
 
liked the soft pressure we used to slow their offense down. shortened their clock by 4-5 secs, allowed us to set up on D, and rested our bigs by not being placed under immediate pressure every possession

Remember the vast majority of our fan base (espically local) is over 65 years old and are in bed around 9 pm. Give it about 25 or 30 years we will have no local fan base it will be in the graveyard !

JPO agree and for first time in a while I saw fire and a determination that had been missing. Everyone is talking about starting MW and Fore, but Trey hit a 3 either in regulation or first OT that kept us in the game with time running down. Every Spider player was into this game, including the bench.
 
That 3 was the only play Trey made all night. Yes it was huge and timely but lets not go overboard. What our other 2 guards did all night had a much much larger impact. And again, if Trey doesn't foul out, khwan is probably not in the game in the 2nd ot and khwan won the game for us during that period.

Considering Trey had stuffed a 3 point shot in the crease between the side rim and backboard a few minutes earlier, it was a huge 3 he hit. I was cussing that shot all the way in to the basket! Lol
 
Traveling so missed the game completely. great win. From the comments it Looks I missed a number of reasons to drink my half glass.
