Great crowd ( from a tv perspective)

I do think it is lost on most people that we could have a remarkable home court advantage if we the had expectations of a top D1 program, like we spend on basketball, and not a D3 program.

I look forward to being back and contributing to that environment in the (hopefully not too distant) future.

We needed you there. 05 was doing a great job trying to lead the crowd chant by himself.

Don’t need anyone there who doesn’t want to be there. Home crowd was terrific. Even got the Bojangles and almost lots of pizza courtesy of Ryan. Red Panda had the half time crowd holding its collective breath. And we had a shot to go into overtime. Love this team. Robin Center game day is like no other in the A-10. Just ask Noah.

Nice to see students show up but they need some lessons from other student sections on who to actually cheer during a game

The crowd seemed pretty dead throughout on TV. Glad to hear it was better in person. We shouldn't need a unicycle bowl-flipper to get people interested in coming to the VCU game, though.

We just played up to our competition. I like it over here so much that next year I am going to buy UR season tickets, wear my VCU garb to the games, and treat all 15 of your fans to a beer.
By the way, are any VCU fans under 250 Lbs ?

I weigh 175! Great game Spider fans! Your starting 5 are as good as any of the top 3 teams in the A10. Had Sherod not gotten injured, this game may have ended differently. There is no better PG than Gil - he is lightening fast and can handle the Rock! What’s this team missing? Coach Mooney needs to develop a bench. I remain surprised at how well this team has held up with the minutes played.

I suspect both teams are in for a rock fight next year. I’ll predict right now 20 wins for the Spides next season.

Ram Bal

The crowd did look pumped up on TV! Though Mooney's team just played VCU at the Robins, next the likes of LaSalle and Fordham. Maybe need to play those Rams every home game? Surely that would be successful in Mooney seeing the door.

It was my first game at the RC since last year's VCU game. The crowd far exceeded my expectations. There was less yellow than I anticipated. The small number of Rams fans there were loud with their "VCU" chant, but overall we had a great home atmosphere, which Coach appropriately acknowledged post-game.

I haven’t been to a game since Hampton. I own four tickets. Won’t go back if CM is still our coach. But watching on tv, just imagine if we were good. Great atmosphere and the best gym in the conference!
SpiderAlways, do you know how hard it was for me ( and many, many more) to go and cheer for Mike Polio and Mack McCarthy? I hated the approach, hated the poor play, the build through transfers and JuCo,... and most of all I hated losing. Still, I went to every single game and cheered my team and went with hopes that maybe we would win. I love going to the games and love supporting my team and I was not going to let a coach take that away from me. I voiced my displeasure as many of you are and have done in relation to CM, but continued go and find what joy and hope I could. You are right as to The Robins Center being one of the best venues in the conference ( upgrades were great), the atmosphere depends as much on the fans as it does the players, coach, and team. Go back to the games, don't let CM take that away from you and your absence is not going to change his status. I believe it is time for a change, but also believe that he will be back next year. I additionally believe that UR was competitive yesterday due to his being there still this year.

Anyway, Spider ALWAYS should always be "In the House" cheering on his team.

( I was first in The RC back in the day cheering on Aaron Stewart, you never hear that name anymore but he was great)

Take it to ramnation...
OK, outta here. Not your enemy, just a rival with ties to both Still, not a good time to be walking amongst you. I will depart with repeating myself, you have nice pieces, you have a coach better than average; unless you have a better solution in place don't change yet.

The three points made after my post--noted. All very direct, all very fair.

...so we beat on, boats against the current borne back ceaselessly into the past.

Give me a break. If Mooneys performance was taking place at VCU he would have been gone 4 years ago. They would never has let this illness manifest to the point where the program will have a tough time recovering.

Nailed it, father. No other program that cares about winning would have let this go on for so long. The only conclusion to draw is that our administration has not cared about winning. I hope Hardt cares.

There is an argument out there that we care about winning because Queally is putting up a bunch of his own money to build the practice facility. Now, a lot of teams in lower conferences than us have had practice facilities for years. Even the top teams in the Patriot League have practice facilities. I think this is one of the ways of getting our facilities up to minimal standards for the conference we're in. It's not that we're committed to winning.

I have seen this narrative: You better have someone better lined up. Really unbelievable. We have the most average coach, but we are supposed to keep keeping on, because we think Hardt is too dumb to hire a better coach? Oh boy.

I have seen some pretty good lists on here - which I will pat us collectively on the back - have a lot of matches to some lists posted that follow coaching changes, as well as national writers. This should be job no. 1 for the AD. Obviously the posters on here all have a few choices that others feel are out there or bad fits, but lots of names that could come in and be an upgrade.

I would be curious to see the list of "hires" that Jim Miller's search team has put in place, and the collective record of teams since their hires. Did UNC-Charlotte use him. I hope Hardt is staying far away from Miller's group.
