I suspect that was the plan all along - get him in during 1st half to show the concept of playing someone who had a few good /great minutes last game but make sure to make it clear that we shouldn't expect to see him much more the rest of the season. .. smh3 minutes today
Mooney's insight. So our starting guards went 3-9 today from 3 and the team shot a whopping 22.7% from the arc but the Prez could only get 3 mins.
What am I missing?
Mooney said at one point that GW3 needs to work on understanding our defense better, so assume that is why he isn't getting time. Your point on Tanner is valid, I wouldn't say he doesn't try, I would just say he is not that athletically gifted and that causes problems with him trying to defend quicker/faster defenders. The thing that drives me crazy about his lack of pt for GW3, is that my guess is he doesn't like something on defense. Yet he plays Tanner, who does not even try on defense. Guess that is the loyalty thing and the long game plan he has in mind.
And the worse thing is, in todays portal world if a player shows potential, even in a few games….he's going to be sought after else where. There is no protecting players hoping to build for the future.I would love an explanation as to why GW3 has wasted away on our bench all year. This is a team devoid of adequate, even average shooters and we have the Ohio POY sitting on our bench collecting dust. He finally gets a few minutes last night and ends up our second leading scorer.
Meanwhile, B. Artis is here for 1 year on a team going no where and gets all of the minutes of the world, while shooting 15% from 3 and under 20% from the field. Tyne is out there running around with his hair on fire and Roche will go 3-4 games between hitting a couple shots. That is our guard room right now.
I don't know if GW stared too long at Mooney's wife or whatever, dude needs to play. He may not be our savior but neither are our current guards, so lets give him some run and see what happens.
