Is it just me or am I the only one irritated and perplexed with the CAA deal with blowsports? All my JMU friends I know loathe it but haven't heard the thoughts of our own fanbase. Why on earth are we still using his platform to stream CAA games? Tom Yeager may of been a vindictive jerk, but he was at least competent running the conference compared to this clown D'Antonio whose running the CAA now. Every other conference seems to have deals with ESPN3 but we are stuck with this archaic non-sense? DCU united fans revolted over their use of Flo and were expected to just take this lying down? I was looking forward to watching this game on some other platform but I guess Ill just be productive around the house while I listen to it on the radio. Thanks Joey Dumb@$$

COLONIAL ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION AND FLOSPORTS ANNOUNCE AN EXPANSION OF THEIR STREAMING RIGHTS PARTNERSHIP

Expanded Partnership Starts With 2021 Season And Includes A Minimum Of 850 Live Events Annually

AUSTIN, Tx. (August 12, 2021) – The Colonial Athletic Association and FloSports have agreed to an expansion of their streaming rights partnership making FloSports the exclusive digital platform for live and on-demand coverage of 13 conference sports.

The expanded agreement provides a minimum of 850 CAA events to FloSports annually over the next two years. All regular season CAA-controlled football and men’s and women’s basketball games will air exclusively on FloSports on the digital side with CAA member institutions retaining rights for local linear television distribution.

FloSports continues to invest in collegiate sports at all levels with this new expanded agreement that includes an increased annual rights fee to CAA. The investment enhances the exposure of CAA sports and makes them available to a global audience while strengthening the CAA’s ability to build a greater direct relationship with fans.

“We are pleased to expand our partnership with FloSports for the next two years,” CAA Commissioner Joe D’Antonio said. “FloSports has done a great job promoting the conference and we’re excited to provide CAA fans with a single streaming platform where they can watch nearly every game in a variety of sports.”

Upon entering into the original agreement with FloSports in 2019, the CAA became the first college conference to select a streaming OTT, direct-to-consumer company as its primary media partner. FloSports streamed more than 440 CAA events throughout 2019-2020, prior to the cancellation of the spring season due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and 488 CAA events in the condensed 2020-2021 season.

“Joe and the forward thinking membership of the CAA have been best-in-class partners since 2019 and we’re thrilled to expand our relationship with the conference,” says Mike Levy, VP, Global Rights Acquisition, FloSports. “It’s a testament to the strength of CAA athletics that we confidently continued our investment in coverage of the CAA.”

The conference will maintain its relationship with LAX Sports Network (LSN) for men’s and women’s lacrosse, but will expand that coverage with additional distribution on FloSports.

After a crappy experience trying to watch a game a few years ago, what I've heard since, and the fact that it's one more in a never-ending parade of subscriptions, I refuse to sign up for FloSports, so I don't get to watch Spider football.

Was out and about in the car during this week's game and tried to tune in to the radio feed via the TuneIn app, and even that now requires a premium subscription.

So ESPN app play-by-play feeds and instant highlights via Twitter are how I follow Spider football live now. Pretty sad, but given my level of interest in the program over the last few years, it's not worth it to me to jump through hoops or shell out the cash.

What specifically is wrong with it?

I'm lucky enough to be local, so between NBCSW and Section 214 I've been covered. But I'd be willing to spend $20 to watch road games - how bad can it be?

Quality of the streams above all else. If you want to overcharge me for this product fine, but at least make sure the streaming quality is good. Over multiple seasons I have been at my JMU friends house where they stream their games and the quality of the stream is something out of 2008. I've seen janitors buffer less than their streams.

Now if you take a look at some of their prior business practices as well it should alarm CAA fans we are aligned with this cartel in the first place. First I cant even simply find out what the cost is without joining first but it looks like 29.99 a mo or 150 a year when using the google. They are notorious for overcharging accounts. They have over 700 complaints from the BBB. Check out their 3.8 rating score in the apple store that was below 3 for some time. They do blackouts as well. ESPN has a 4.6 rating. I'm not here to promote the mouse because ESPN has its share of problems as well, but they're an established brand and I can tune in and cannot recall any technical issues and most sports fans that stream have that. Flo is a niche company that broadcasted sports no one else would because it wasn't profitable and eventually finagled its way into FCS football and MLS. DCU fans revolted so much IIRC they actually had to cancel the contract with them.

This "seven figure contract" that got signed with it is probably like 1 dollar over a million bucks. Why not just say what the deal is worth? Apparently a lot of that TV money doesn't even make it to the football affiliates and are used to buy CAA games if you believe the message board chatter.

CAA shouldn't be in bed with this company.

D'Antonio and FloSports are what you get when you have a bunch of University Presidents that really don't care about FCS Football.

What CAA Football leadership has done to this conference over the last decade is nothing short of negligent.

Thank you for the specifics! TIL

It's 19.99/monthly or 150 annually.
If the quality is that bad, I'll pass.
<cough> I heard a rumor that <cough> certain offshore sportsbooks will stream games live even if you don't place a bet.

This is the context for that tweet:

Rinky Dink viewership-As an CAA associate member for football only we have no say

“For the 2019-20 and 2020-21 school years, JMU averaged 4,851 viewers for home football games that streamed exclusively on FloSports. The CAA averaged 3,243 viewers for football games on Flo”
