Queally-Hardt: You have to see the writing on the wall. All of your NIL guys you hit up for money this year are disgruntled washing Mooney throw that money away on the worst team probably most of us have seen don the Spider uniform. You have nothing returning, except 5 freshman, none of which are blue chippers and given Mooney track record of high school recruiting, more than half of them will be complete busts.

Yeah, you have to eat his contract, but is that worse, than watching this same crap come back next year. Attendance was way down this year, despite whatever the RC folks tell you, you both were there, you saw the disinterest from fans, alumni, students. Team was bad on both ends of the floor, no adjustments from Mooney. Hell, in his press conferences, he even looks completely defeated.

This program is as stale as 2 week old bread in all aspects. Imagine some young coach coming in here wanting to prove himself and how he could change everything about Spider basketball. Only you have the power to change this. Do something, please.

I wonder if either bother to read our message board. Probably not. Most of us here are just the "little people" (Christmas Vacation).

Attendance - hey, plenty of middle schools there for multiple games. Isn’t that what we want to expand the base?

They did say they'd just get new fans...gotta try to lock 'em in when they're young.
Maybe the focus should be on RETIRE, Mooney, as we are a nice little school that likes to “compete” at our own self effacing expense, not trying to hurt any feelings.
And hey, my VCU nephew, a big CM supporter, go figure, said we only needed five more points to win yesterday. He was trying to stay positive for me.

For all the movie fans on the board Hardt is the Bernie Lomax of athletic directors. The next and only big announcement we will be getting from him is his retirement.

Didn't Mooney say something after the A10 tourny loss like I've enjoyed my time here at Richmond. Maybe, he knows it's over.

wishful thinking. I watched postgame and didn't hear anything like that. Maybe it was in relation to playing against Fran Dunphy. There were a couple questions about him.

Yeah, I didn't hear that either. What I did pick up the last few press conferences is a man who seems a bit tired and defeated though.

Great way to fire up the pro forces and circle the wagons to support their guy.
You have to wonder if the billboard did actually help Mooney keep his job.

Some people really hate being told what
to do…

Stop buying tickets. Stop contributing. When they call and ask for money tell them why you're not contributing. I can't do this by myself but I can say I'm actually doing something other than bitching.
Season ticket strike. Empty seats might be the only thing that makes the Ivory Tower see what we see.

I think PQ's contribution to the practice facility probably is much more than a season of ticket sales? That is the issue, they don't seem to care about the empty arena or fans. They have this weird fascination with needing Mooney. Keepin Mooney = Keeping PQ happy.

It is not good to be in a position where you are making decisions based on what keeps one person happy vs what is in the best interest of the program.

Mooney will be let go (publicly stated as mutual decision or retire) when 2 things happen. The ticket sales/apathy from fans is too noticeable to ignore and when Queally/other big donors are tired of giving their money for losing seasons.

Agreed 23, I disagree that not buying tickets is an effective strategy with us. There ticket revenue had to be down this year given the state of the team (although they did raise ticket prices so perhaps not). At any rate, our season tickets are so inexpensive, the loss of a hundred season ticket holders is a PQ tax write off (and hell with the tax break PQ is about to get from Federal government, he can just use that to pour more money into Mooneyball).

If we as fans ever want to the move the needle, it will have to be something more publicly facing. I was being facetious about the billboard because that obviously wasn't effective. Perhaps, the petition would have. But if we want them to feel any pressure, something will have to be done for them to take notice of the collective dissatisfaction.

Some people have enough money to play with that it’s more like Monopoly money and a hobby. Throwing it around and not getting results is no big deal.

Call into radio shows the same way when they tried to move us in the patriot league back in 2005. Thats the last time we defeated the nerds on campus afraid of being great in athletics and we won a national title less than 3 years later. I was in the studio that morning with Ray Tate and the anger was palpable.

Call in and be relentless citing statistics as to why we are behind in every metric as our city foe and why they think its ok?

I nearly wanted to drive into a steel pole on Thursday listening to Big Al's replacement pussyfoot around an excellent call about the state of our program. All the host could do is spread the same bullshit talking points our admin pushes while ignoring all the issues that plague the program.

That Dukebag moron should know better than to say stay with the devil you know because it could be worse. Wonder if he regretted JMU firing Mickey Matthews. Then cited Matt Brady's situation as similar to Mooney's. They also fired him and made the NCAAs shortly after.

ESPN 950 is a major issue here. They spread propaganda and putting lipstick on a pig and come across very little resistance to the current state of the program.

Or get creative and buy a billboard with VCU fans asking to extend Mooney....maybe then they'll get it?

I don't get the impression that a chunk of non-renewals around season tickets move the needle, the whole attitude and what's been verbalized is "we'll get new fans."

I do think if you get the right few people who are visible for whatever reason, like they're NIL/donor types, that moves the needle more than a group of disgruntled fans. It's hard to get noticed otherwise at our ticket revenue level.

We can all agree that Mooney is a low IQ coach, but I loathe and despise the Hardt/Queally combo that has not only ruined basketball, but also football.

It is very interesting that a new sports host and JMU grad sounds like a Bob Black parrot. I can understand that he isn’t going to jump on the Fire Mooney bandwagon right out of the gate, but there is definitely plenty of ways to discuss the situation that the Spiders find themselves in other than the party line.

stay with the devil you know because it could be worse.
Such an outright lie.

How much worse can it be?

A terrible OOC schedule with 2 non-D1 games. A 13th place finish out of 15 teams. A first round loss in A10 tournament. An incoming roster that is at least 33% players with 0 college experience. A max of 2 returning starters. Currently 1 open roster spot for a transfer.

The conclusion given on the show was to wait one more year. How can you possibly see any sign of a turnaround given the facts above? As we all know there isn’t and one would have to wait another 1-2 years IF there were signs of potential after some more lean years. Plus you have new threats in the form of NIL payments and immediate eligibility. It simply makes no sense.
