I could get behind an "Earl Grant" chant.
The basketball people would get it, the family members and pod-people would remain oblivious.
Plus, at least one potential coach wouldn't be rubbed the wrong way.

Never happened. I was watching and listening. A bunch of blowhards on this board who don't back up their talk with action. Pretty typical. Talk the talk but don't walk the walk. How many said ...I'm in. Give me a break. Either man up and do it or shut this topic down.
I for one am glad you guys didn’t follow your baser instincts on this one. Express your displeasure to hardt, probably lower impact but less risk of backfiring.

Fair enough. Many posters here said they were going to stand up - even at a a specific time - and do the chant. So all I'm saying is back up your words. I'm calling them out on it. As Mr. T-bone said, there are much more impactful ways to bring about a change.
Exactly. Should not be confusing at all. Either put up or shut up. Heck, I'll even set it up. Next game home game is Weds., the 9th at 7 PM. Why don't all the talkers on doing this begin the chant at the under 5 minute media TO in the first half, or possibly at the under ten minute TO in the second half. You all choose. Much more realistic than picking a specific time during the game.
Nobody should be doing that chant at a game, it only would embarrass the program. Those who maybe intended to do so likely lost that focus as the team was leading ODU and poised for an upset. Once the tied turned and there was just a few minutes left, it just wouldn't have fit and would have detracted from the players' effort. ( will remind folks that I said the other day that UR could pull of this victory, the 3 offensive rebounds on one possession the led to the And One and a three point lead was the instance that the game was lost and Mooney wasn't to blame for that)
I didn’t go because I am physiologically sick. I’d be happy to do the chant next game when we have more support.
The program has already embarrassed itself more than any chant might. I was planning to attend the game tonight but had other family responsibilities instead. I did, however, start a Fire Mooney chant at a shopping mall.
My understanding is that as soon as the workers at Foot Locker heard your chant they started a "Living La Vida Loco" chant, followed by "Fire La Vida"
Just an idea, but what about a Richmond Spider Basketball Facebook and Twitter “unfollow”/walkout? Mafia’s Twitter has over 300 followers and the UR basketball account is just above 8k while its Facebook account is at 2.5k. Bringing them down a few hundred all at once (and staying out) is something that will get noticed. And who needs their PR anyway these days.

would suggest that all the chanters get together at the games and wear the same flashy outfits, your choice, come down to the court and then start your chant at any part of the game. that way people will notice and you guys might even get some air time which could go viral. this would really be more effective than just a guy here and one over there or up there, band together and more might join even if not dressed like you guys. think bear chested with lettering spelling out LEAVE or MOONEY HAS TO GO, depending on how big your chests are. who knows by the second or third game of doing it this way, the entire ROB could be without shirts.

I feel like a broken record, but it is always the lack of half time/in game adjustments that is Mooney’s calling card.
At the beginning of the second half, when we looked flat coming out of the break, I was screaming for a time out (sorry upstairs neighbors). I actually thought Mooney called one, but then quickly realized it was only a medical time out for the ODU player who pulled his hamstring...
I know there’s a school of thought to let players play through funks, but that doesn’t seem to work for us. Call a freaking time out coach, and regroup the guys. Or maybe even make some adjustments...

i wouldn't and won't chant.... the players are struggling enough. Mooney needs to go If Mooney isn't gone after this season I likely am, that very sad for me but it's the only thing that might make an impression (no matter how small) on the AD.
Fair enough. It didn't happen. A couple reasons why.
1. The game was close until the end, you can't pull out a "Fire Mooney" chant if we have a chance of winning the game.
2. When the game was finally decided, the ODU fanbase was very loud celebrating their win (louder than our fans have been all year, I might add). Chant only works if it can be heard and the ODU fans cheering would have drowned it out.
The Robins Center was actually alive last night but only because ODU fans showed up to cheer for their team. I can only imagine what the VCU game is basically going to feel like a home game for them.
Our fan base, like our team and our program is defeated. Mooney is going to throw some more logs on the fire of our burning mess of a program over the next 6 weeks and the chant, banners, and other similarily geared activities where the fan base is expressing not just their frustration but their outrage with the status of the program will happen.
I've already written to Mr. Hardt and will be doing so again soon...he was at the game last night and got to witness first hand how close our program is to rock bottom...if we are not already there...
the Richmond fan base is so worn out and discouraged it only took a few hundred ODU fans to "take over" the Robins Center coming down the stretch in the game...it was embarrassing!
The life has been sucked out of what should be one of the University's biggest PR assets locally, regionally and nationally...it's a waste and a shame that doesn't have to be...

Candidly, I was surprised how much attention this thread received. The guys on 950am discussed it without even being prompted. There is some really thin skin surrounding this program.
Yes, this thread is just as good or better than the chant. I do feel that this distracts Mooney. But I will say BRAVO '05 and Fan1 - this board is a social media influencer. I don't think you are quite making the millions as all those instagram media influencers - but Mooney is getting worse and worse as #FMM is using this forum to get stronger and stronger.
