FCS Championship game

Who are you rooting for if you had to choose one of these options?

With the championship game only a few days away, I thought it would be interesting to see who you all are rooting for by setting up this poll.

JMU can represent the CAA but I also don't want our rivals to win another championship. On the flip side, NDSU fans are some of the cockiest fans in all of FCS and it'll be nice to see them lose in the finals.

Tough call for me to be honest. I only put 2 options because I want you all to pick one or the either, but there can certainly be a "don't care" option too

P.S. For any JMU fans reading this thread (and have an account) please don't vote. I want an honest representation of who SpiderNation members want to win. Thanks!
 
I just want a good game. All but one of the recent tide of NDSU/JMU championships have been exceedingly dull.
The notable exception being the NDSU/Illinois St final, where Carson Wentz scored the GWTD with less than a minute to play.

Not a matter of "pulling for", it's an either/or choice. So want's your reason for choosing NDSU? What's the upside to that? At least JMU is from our league, and the fact that they've only had 3 close games recently and 2 were from us, does shine some sort of light on us. I will choose any CAA team over one that the whole country considers to be a dynasty.

VERY GLAD the NCAA has banned the streamers, I would like to see UR do the same when they come to town.

Number of 804 kids on the JMU roster, some of us may even know them, venture to say that a number of spiders football players are also friends with JMU players. Generally not a Dukes fan, but have lots of respective for a number of their players, so given the situation, hope they have success this weekend. Making next year's victory over the defending national champs that much sweeter.

This shouldn't even be a thought for any REAL Spider fan. We can never pull for jmu. You think Auburn is pulling for Alabama to win because they are from the same state or same conference (SEC wins either way) he'll no! The same goes for us. If I was a Spider player I wouldn't care if I had friends on thr jmu team, they are the enemy so they can't be my friends. Never will I root for them, I hope NDSU destroys them. I do however have a ton of respect for Mike Houston though, guy is a rising star as a coach.

Why I hate The Dillweeds (JMU)
They make fun of Robins Stadium.
They sneer at our fan base.
They make snide remarks about the cost attending UR.
They make ugly comments about our student body.

I will claim I am guilty concerning our fanbase and the majority of the make up of our student body. I have not, to my knowledge, make snide, ugly remarks about Robins Stadium and the cost of attendance.

I will say that I am glad that the university has stepped up its efforts in accepting more students from our Beloved Commonwealth. It seems to me that for about 25 to 30 years Virginians were ignored when it came to admissions.
 
I wish we were in Frisco. That said I think a JMU win is the best of a bad choice. Look the more national exposure the CAA gets the more invites to the tournament might come our way. To be the best you have to beat the best and with JMU we have that opportunity every year.

I'm definitely rooting for JMU. Lots of local kids on the roster and a handful of former Spiders on the coaching staff who are all good guys and contributed to our success over the years. Lots of the kids on our teams are very friendly as well. This is not a tough decision for me.

FRS, my friend, I think that you might be confused. Do you allege that it was Cato, the Elder, or Cato, the Younger, who made that comment? I would have thought with some certainty that a statement like that would have been made by the most important Cato of all, i.e., the one who was the personal assistant to the famed Inspector Clouseau...and he was Asian, not Roman (See below).

If JMU were destroyed, there would be one less school we could look down upon because of their intellectual inferiority. Plus this: Where would we get out janitors? Our garbage collectors? Our maids?

Perhaps I should've said JMU sports should be destroyed by the Spiders when the two schools play each other. I would not want the destruction of the JMU campus. After all, my sister attended Madison College in the late 1960s.

I know you don’t because that goes against all your preconceived notions of JMU fans. Is it so hard to believe that I was cheering for a team that plays 25 minutes away from where I grew up over the team that knocked us out of that tournament?

Just know that if y'all had made it to the championship it would've been just about the same result as what happened to Montana. No one was beating us that night. Man I wish y'all had made it to the title game that year.
 
If you want to be the best you have to beat the best, so I'm pulling for the Dukes today. Status of our conference easier to recruit the top players, and good recruiting line to say guaranteed to have a chance to play the defending champs.

FRS - you are so famous (or infamous to some I guess) that your identity has been known for a long time as well as your father's loyalty to UR. Have mixed feelings on the JMU game; sick of them beating us even if the games have been close. On the other hand know lots of people who went to school there and like them and know absolutely no one who went to NDSU.
 
I view an in conference rival like a sibling. No one wants to beat them more head to head than you do...but you want them to do well against others. Know too many JMU’rs not to pull for them. And added benefit of being able to beat the defending champs next year.

So do you also root for VCU whenever they don't play Richmond? I agree with your sibling analogy for any conference member that isn't a rival

Oh good lord. Some of us actually did play for the Spiders and will pull for JMU. I had family at JMU - I suppose they're the enemy too and I should disown them.

I know for a fact many JMU fans pulled for us in '08. One even drove us to Chattanooga.

But hey, NDSU has "AGR" so that's a good reason to root for them. You know who else has that goofy safety school frat? Delaware. There's a fan base where you'll fit right in, plus they've got your idol Rocco.

You continue to astound with your complete lack of any serious sports knowledge, even for a little kid.

I honestly don't really care who wins this game. I just want us to get back up to the top and beat jmu. This is a very good football game so far, seems like most fcs title games are usually not such good games. I'm past the whole UD thing with Rocco now and won't find myself rooting for them. No you should not disown your family meme here that went to jmu, if had family members that went there I would just talk a lot of trash to them and that'd be it. Would never hate them for going to jmu. Also when have I ever said any racist remark on this board? Not aware that I ever have. Here's to us beating jmu next year!
