Euro recruiting question

We don't do this and don't think many other teams do - the reason being, with coaches changing jobs so much over here, chances are our players over in Europe right now know little to nothing about Mooney. Sure they can tell a foreign kid about the school and how he is likely to get turned down by admissions (joking of course), but without any recent ties to Mooney (except for maybe KA) - not much out there.

Best way to recruit overseas is make some contacts with talent evaluators and they can give you inside track on kids looking to come to the States.

you can play the dirty game as sport illustrated outlined a couple of weeks ago, you can get lucky but probably best to leave it alone other than those here in prep schools. too much trouble and too expensive to do it the right way. would love to have them but just don't think it is worthwhile unless you have a legitimate, quality, above board, source.

There are other euro hoops academies other than the one outlined in the article. Should not be expensive or very time-consuming to seek out some of the other academies, and establish relationships. I think european players tend to fit well with our style and system, and I think we are missing out on a lot of potential talent by ignoring the overseas players.
