We're coming off a big win. We're going into our bye and we have the big showdown after the bye. If there was a classic trap spot, this is it.

Elon has also played better football this year. I'm glad the got the Indians. That should keep us focused.

I hope we get a good Spider rooting section down there. It's not a bad drive at all.

I agree. Big win over a ranked opponent, bye week then biggest rival, (also a ranked opponent and conference championship may be on the line)on the horizon, away game against a good football team. A win over us would be a highlight of their season. They had a bye week to prepare. I can't think of anymore factors that would be involved in a 'trap' game.

Listen to Coach Rocco's presser after game. Told the team to be humble and hungry. With the player leadership on this team and learning lessons already presented this season, I think we will be ready. I am more worried that we game plan so much based on film can we adjust quickly to any new wrinkles Elon may throw at us coming off a buy week. My fear of this is not great due to talent level of this team. See you all at Elon!

I would expect Elon to blitz. We struggled with the double A gap blitz and Thompson hasn't looked great blocking out of the backfield.

Still closed in both directions near Lumberton. Won't affect anyone coming down to Elon from the north though. Not even sure folks coming from any other direction would run into it either...lol.

Thompson is a hard runner, takes quick cuts, hangs on to the ball, etc. but he cannot pick up who to block on a blitz, odd? It's going to be a tell for defenses when he's in the game.

Not necessarily can't pick up who to block, but executing the block as well. Most underrated part of Jacobi Green's game that we miss.

I agree it is a classic trap game. Rick, Stony Brook was our 1st conf game of season I dont think that can ever really be a trap game. Elon has had some good results too. Beat WM comfortably. They may be a little down but no they don't suck. Almost beat UNH. Got beat badly by Nova & GW. Mixed bag but they have shown they can compete against two historically solid CAA teams. Coming off the bye and we have our eyes on a bye we badly need. About 10 players on 2 deep from UVA aren't playing according to JOC. That's significant. Our secondary especially. Plus last year vs Elon wasn't easy.

Hopefully Rocco has team focused but it has that trap look to me given all the factors. Now you don't lose all trap game either. But it would surprise me if we dont have to sweat this one. Love Elon at +18. Hope to be wrong and our O breaks out and carries us. Gotta get the W with upcoming bye then hopefully get some guys back and be in good position for the final stretch.

Given our lack of depth at RB,we need to figure out a way to get Jay Palmer and James Pavik some touches on Saturday.
agree 32...particularly to relieve Broaddus of some of his carries...he's our back up QB if anything were to happen to Lauletta...if he were to get hurt on a 31 dive play that Pavik or Palmer should be able to handle, we'd have no back up QB...think I heard Coach Rocco say somewhere along the line that no other QB was ready to play...what happened to the transfer QB?

Go Spiders!

I worry about our depth being a little banged up even at our second level. I agree Pavik and Palmer need some reps to predict Broadus, but also Broadus needs to be in at QB and not keep Lauletta in WR position. Let Broadus throw one or two when expecting the run and then you really screw up the D when he comes in and makes the run that much more open.

Shout out to Garrett for calling the TE more this year. That has taken a lot of pressure off the WRs and throwing in a few screens here and there. Overall play calling I feel has been more open, using more players.

Believe the lesson was learned at Stony Brook. Elon will not take us unawares and we will not be overconfident.

Elon has scored 8 TDs all season, last in the CAA. They give up just shy of 400 yds/game. No way we lose this game unless we have a rash of TOs or the special teams totally collapse. The Spiders should be fine.
