Ed Ayers' Award

For those who missed it, Ed Ayers was awarded the National Humanities Medal by President Obama. This is a MAJOR prize and we should all be very proud of and happy for him. IMO, Ed is a true scholar, inspirational leader and outstanding representative of our university. Send him an email if you are so inclined.

guess this goes back to his uva days and THE VALLEY OF THE SHADOW project there. hope he has initiated a similar undertaking here or has encouraged the faculty to do same.

Spinner, this award is for a body of work, not for a particular project. Ed's influence on the humanities is far-reaching and includes the various accomplishments at UR.

the award specifically cited his work in digital humanities and know the "valley" project was a stunning example of that so just hope he is doing same here but have not heard or seen anything on what he is doing here other than dropping track and soccer. that seems to be what he is known for here and hope we get more info on other things as well.
