Durden is gone

Richmond: Source shares with FootballScoop VMI offensive coordinator / quarterbacks coach Billy Cosh is expected to be named to the same role at Richmond.
Any chance he would bring Keydets QB Morgan with him? I’m not sure, but believe he has eligibility left.

Go Spiders!

“…As expected, Herres, Dabney, Jackson, Caselberry and a number of their fellow VMI seniors tweeted this week that they have entered the transfer portal so they can join new teams as graduate transfers. Hartnett was one of the graduating fourth-year juniors who also tweeted this week about entering the portal as graduate transfers.
VMI does not have a graduate school, so its graduates must find a new school in order to use their extra year of eligibility, which the NCAA granted all 2020 fall-sports athletes because of the coronavirus pandemic.
Herres, a 2020 FCS All-American, ranks second on the VMI career lists in catches (226) and receiving yards (3,006) and owns the VMI career mark for TD catches (26).
Other Keydets who will be graduating next month or next May and tweeted about entering the portal are senior running back Korey Bridy, who ran for 654 yards and eight TDs in eight games; senior tackles Marshall Gill and Shane Strand; fourth-year junior guard Jacob Peace; fourth-year junior center Ayden Jilson; and senior linebacker Carter Johnson…”

I wouldn't. Clawson went to Tennessee to become their OC and then everyone got fired a year later, so that stuff definitely happens. At least at programs that care about winning. So, yeah, I guess you're probably right.

Rather surprised w/ Cosh hire. we do not have the experience or skilled players to run run his air raid offense. really thought they would save the bucks and promote Satterfield. he certainly has the resume.

Your're right about the lack of experience but let's hold off on the lack of skill until we can see what the young guys can do. I'm high on Wickersham but we'll see.

Also let’s see what QBs and skilled players come out of transfer portal. Fitzgerald was
a good one till concussion ended his career and Dante Black has hardly sniffed the field.
ECU WR transfers had successful run for us.

If nothing else - an Air Raid version will be entertaining to watch. Seems to be fun for players as well. Would imagine we’ll have guys interested. And, wouldn’t surprise me if we struggle to win games but the offense picks up that Hardt doesn’t look far for a new Head Coach. While I personally am a huge fan of a pro style west coast offense for the school, it would seem that an Air Raid version is more compatible than what Durden was running.

Jim Miller to serve as VMI’s Interim Director of Intercollegiate Athletics

Jim,

Could you please make sure some of those Keydet football transfers enroll at UR.
Can you also please transfer VMI’s top recruiters and coaches as well.Don’t know how you’ve done it but that past few teams have been very good. How did UR miss on not recruiting these players? Were we asleep or did we not properly measure player potential.

Thank you for your continued loyalty to hopefully getting our program back to the levels of yesteryears.

Wonder if Russ will allow Billy to bring in his own people .Not convinced we have irreplaceable offensive coaches or recruiters.Russ Loyalty may trump Billy desire for change, which we need.

Cosh was successful @ VMI. That's impressive. RH best let him run the O. Plus, Russell has said he spends most of his time with the defense, so why change now.

RUNNING BACKS COACH
DAVID CORLEY

WIDE RECEIVERS COACH
WESLEY SATTERFIELD

OFFENSIVE LINE COACH/RUN GAME COORDINATOR
ADAM ROSS

TIGHT ENDS COACH
TREY CASO

Srofe is in charge of all recruiting. That may not be the best way to go.

"I think somebody said they ran for 2000 yards. Is that what the Air Raid does? I guess it does that...I don't even know what the Air Raid is."

That one will definitely work on the 'Huesman Classics' album, huh?

That was funny. Although what makes me laugh is that I imagine I’ll hear that same comment 50 times next year.

sort of like the clowns that used to sit behind me at city stadium that used to bitch that Clawson didn’t know what he was doing on offense because we didn’t throw it enough.
