Durden is gone

We have a decent DC now let’s find an OC who can create better short yardage third downs and
has backup QBs sufficiently trained to fill in when needed. Honestly the first two games of the year
made me concerned with our offensive play calling and our ability to execute.

I'm with Mo, I like the RPO but I believe that games are won and lost in the trenches. When you are in the RPO the O-Line is split between run block vs pass block. Your QB can still run out of the Pro set when the opportunity arises.

It's called being classy. No need to rip on a guy who just lost his job the day before Thanksgiving.
Understood, but there's a difference between being classy and lying. He could have very honestly said "Jeff is a very good coach, a friend and a good man, but our offense wasn't living up to the standards I have for it and so I felt it was necessary to make a change."

Wes Satterfield could be a staff option. By the way there is no good time to lose a job.

Since Russ knows nothing about running an offense or offensive schemes,I ‘m pretty sure he’s not the person to be choosing the new OC.If not he then who.

Russ may come up with a co-offensive coordinator solution which would include Corley and Satterfield. He made a similar “keep the assistants happy”decision with the defense unit
which included Braithwaite and Wood.

Looks like our old buddy John Garrett is no longer gonna be the head coach at Lafayette. Would love to bring him back. He was a great play caller.

At first I thought what OC wants to come here for an uncertainty of duration based upon our record since Rocco left, but then I remembered that we really don't let head coaches go. So, a new OC will be safe for a number of years.

If Garrett's system was too complicated ... And Durden's was too simple ... And Charlie Fisher was "just right"? Who is our next Charlie Fisher?

Or...Where is Charlie Fisher?
Russ may be intimidated by the level of knowledge and expertise of those 2 guys.
Using Kyle Lauletta’s personal relationship with these guys could have sway to get them to consider UR.

I honestly don’t see the next OC a high level hire especially given that Russ may have only 1 year left.

Russ’ outreach to available coaches is considerably more limited than say Rocco.Russ’ hire may have more to do with “compatible comfort” levels than levels of expertise.

Real question is how much money does Russ have to work with??? MBB keeps being a huge drag on the whole department. Unfortunately I could see us being too cheap to pay for a quality assistant.

Exactly what I posted in post #10 in this thread. Obviously he doesn't think Durden did a "great job" or else he wouldn't have gotten rid of him. He should just be honest.

I think he didn’t wanted to kick him while he’s down. I assume Durden has a family and is going to need to find another job,

He didn't need to say "Durden sucks and I hate him," but plenty of coaches use the terminology I mentioned above.

JOC casually getting a mention of Billy Cosh out there on the record...

Done a nice job at VMI for sure and could be a draw for bringing along VMI transfers(long list later identified in this link) now on the market.Billy is only about 30 yrs old and his wife Kelsey works for the Keydet Club
