We can only lick our wounds so long on the Delaware loss or this will snowball on us. A few thoughts...

-Nobody should have been surprised that we lost to Delaware. We were a point underdog when the game kicked. Delaware had a better win than we did going into that game (@ Stony Brook) and two better losses than we did (@ VT, vs JMU).
-I have been feeling for weeks that we were a likely 7-4 team that can be a team that slides into the playoffs that nobody wants to play in the playoffs. I still feel that way. We will probably still have a ranking in the teens this week.
-Counting the JMU game as a loss and the Indian game as a win, we need to go 2-1 in against @UD, SBU, @Villanova. I felt that the Delaware game was going to be the hardest of those 3 to win.
-Stony Brook is a big ballgame and it's homecoming. Given the Villanova quarterback situation, i think this Stony Brook game is going to be harder to get than the Villanova game.

Let's take care of some business on Saturday and get the train moving in the right direction again. We can get to the playoffs and we all owe it to Kyle and the seniors to help out however we can.

I wish I could of thought this rationally in the immediate aftermath of the game. At this point I am not sure I can see 7-4 with all the holes we have AND our schedule but its certainly possible with #5 behind center. We have a chance to win any game with him at the helm and Ill take him over any QB in our league. I do agree if we can somehow get to the playoffs; maybe just become average at tackling or even converting 20% of our short yardage situations the season could turn on a dime for the better.

I will also like to point out, wasn't our 08 team 4-3 at one point?

I agree to an extent 7-4 is possible, very difficult but possible. especially Nova away and the always unpredictable Bill and Mary game. But even 7-4 is no guarantee. We'll need some help.

We aren't the '08 team but we aren't chopped liver either.

And FWIW, it took me 36 hours to think that rationally.

I thought it was interesting that Russ got no call from JOC today. I figured JOC must be on vacation. But then he calls Rocco and ask him how he thinks JMU would stack up against FBS competition. Truly bizarre stuff.

If I was Coach Huesman I wouldn't have wanted the JOC call, or any press contact either.

After the loss to undefeated #1 JMU (The "Scotty Game"), yes.

I'm with Mo. Beat Stony Brook. Start with "block & tackle."
We are getting new equipment?

Obviously this week’s a must win, what's left of our chances to make the playoffs depends on a win and some other outcomes.

I don't know if expecting 5 teams in the CAA to make the field is reasonable but it most likely it won’t be 6.

Dividing the 5 teams ahead of us and Nova in the standings into two groups unbeaten and 1 loss, here is the hurdle

JMU 4-0 has Elon
Then UNH (and us)

Elon 4-0 has JMU
Then UNH (and Nova)

StonyB 4-1 has neither
Then (only us)

Del 3-1has neither
Then (nova)

UNH 3-1 both Elon and JMU
Then none

I’m not sure how to hope this works out but I’m guessing we need Elon beating UNH and Nova, (giving UHN 3 loses and Nova 4/5 loses, assuming we beat them) and JMU winning out (except for us) and somebody has to lose in the JMU Elon match up obviously. We need to hand Stony B it’s 2 loss and maybe Nova can take out Del. That would only leave SB and Del with 2 losses. And that still requires us to beat JMU (and Nova and WM) to keep from having 3 losses. If we had 3 loses I would hope tied with UNH we could get the nod.

We could use some help from the bottom 5 teams..... but it's still possible.

I admit way to many variables. But it’s irrelevant if we don’t win Sat. Go Spiders.

Thanks for putting this together.

Like you said a win is a must, though I would hope a 7-4 CAA team would be considered pending the number of 8-3 or better teams the conference has left standing.

With that said Albany still has all three one loss teams and I just have a feeling they will be a factor in those three Nov. games

Well let's hope today goes good. Already off to a pretty rough start for me as I'm pretty sure I just tore something in my knee in our annual fraternity house football game. Spiders winning sure would make my day better as would Tech blowing out duke later tonight. Let's go Spiders! And LETS GO HOKIES!!!!
