Does Mickey Have the Right Idea??

So, why couldn’t we be the first. Besides, does Villanova have anything in the Big East other than basketball?

Yes what SF said.

I have some sentiments about being in a more regional based league where all the sports are under the same umbrella. Though I’d rather regionalize the A10 before going back to the CAA. Really wish there was a way to work out ODU to the A10. They should take a stab at independent in football to free the rest of their athletics program from CUSA. Cut down on travel expenses, control own tv contract, and on top of that won’t have trouble scheduling quality teams eager for 757 recruits. It also solidifies VA as the footprint of the A10 and improves the conference in virtually every sport.

JMU/WM don’t have the pedigree to play in the A10, but I’m fine playing them non-conference.

Rarely is Mickey right and he isn't here either. The move to the A-10 was a men's basketball related decision and it was and continues to be the right one. The CAA is a crap league for men's hoop, I mean it is awful. Their autobid winner is often a 16 seed. Dayton was a damn 1 seed this year, they are in our league.

Let's just be honest, outside of LAX, does anyone really give two hoots about the league affiliation of the Olympic sports.

The financial mess caused by COVID will hit athletic departments hard but it too shall pass in time.

Not going to argue the CAA is on par with or even close to the A-10, but this is overstating things a little bit. The CAA got a 16-seed once...JMU in 2013. They usually get a 13, with an occasional 12 or 14 mixed in.

(Side note: That 16-seed JMU team played three A-10 teams, and while they went 0-3, they lost those games by a grand total of four points with two of the games going to OT. They missed a shot at the overtime buzzer that would have beaten us.)

Well you fact checked me here, so your right. I do believe most prognosticators had them as 16 seed in this years tourney, which is maybe were I got that.

All I know is I am incredibly grateful for our league affiliation with the A-10. I wish X and Temple wouldn't have left when they did and perhaps if our league is poached again in the future, I may feel differently, but the A-10 is a big time league and am glad UR is a competitive part of it.

I am proposing that we schedule intrasquad games and they be allowed to count toward our record. In all sports. You're welcome.

We could take the VCU rivalry to the next level and play them in every game of every sport we both offer next season. Players could just carpool.
