VCU is still on the bubble according to most. A win over #5 Dayton would be a huge resume boost for them. Plus I can never root for VCU

I disagree, there is no way we overtake Dayton for first barring a complete collapse. A VCU win would also put them ahead of us for the ncaa tournament.

VCU would still be behind UR in the conference standings. Plus, it would be best if Dayton was not undefeated in conference play.
Please explain, aside from visceral hatred of VCU (which I understand), why is it better for UR if VCU loses this game?
VCU will probably leapfrog us in the NET and bracketology projections because they "almost" beat Dayton lol. Just like they "almost" beat Tennessee and "almost" beat Purdue. Too bad, so sad.
Their resume isn’t even that of a bubble team in my opinion. 1-6 vs Quad 1, 1-2 vs Quad 2, with a Quad 4 loss to Mason. Their only Quad 1 win is LSU, who are borderline Quad 2 at this point (they’re 29 in NET, need to be top 30 to stay Quad 1).
PS I understood the sarcasm. I’m just as frustrated at how much love they get off of solely name recognition

Dayton's an NCAA lock. Beating VCU (thanks!) knocks the Rams further off the bubble.
To paraphrase another post, we do not want VCU or any other bubble team getting an attention getting win. I see the error of my ways. I could see us squaring off against Dayton in the A10 finals.
I went to the VCU/Dayton game last night with my son. We got to the game early to watch Toppin warm-up. He usually shows off with a lot of acrobatic dunks. He missed most of is shots in warm-up and didn't not bring his A game. During the actual game he miss a lot of point blank shots. VCU played pretty well, but if Toppin was on, VCU would have lost by double digits.
Its setting up for a team not named Dayton to win in Brooklyn, the ghost of Linda Bruno will call in the goons to make sure that happens.
SLU over UD, then URI vs UR to see who plays them in the final. That seems to be the script...
VCU now needs to win out to give their bubble some air. Especially the last two games with Duquesne and Davidson who is climbing up in Net rankings as we speak. They win out - then maybe a win or two in A10 tourney secures their bid.
If we're scripting the A10 tourney, I'd like to make sure SLU and UD are on the other half of the bracket. SLU just seems like a bad matchup for us. I believe they've won 4 of the last 5, at least.
Bad match up for us and Dayton. I meant one semi final Dayton vs SLU, other semi final UR vs URI.
I want to avoid SLU but I will take them over Dayton if that is the two choices.
I wouldn't count us out so quickly, VCU had our number in January but we turned it completely around in February...Regardless, to be the best, we must beat the best....I look for us to take over 2nd place anyway!!

I am pulling for the A-10 final to be the Spiders versus either St. Joe's or LaSalle.
