One would have thought the Davidson job would have attracted someone with more experience and pedigree.
Being "one of their own" is a big factor for Davidson....which I can only imagine the excitement if somehow Kenny Atkinson became our head basketball coach.....................

Not exactly a neophyte to sports administration. We got the head guy from Bucknell, which plays in a lesser conference than ours, but does have a decent basketball team. I thought we would get someone with more pedigree, like an assistant AD from a major conference like the ACC.
Yes , Atkinson with Fleming would have been elite. But Miller's albatross has debilated our ability to make this type of move. Instead we have Mooney, 4700 and a whole lot of mediocrity.
Being one of our own is not necessarily something that UR values institutionally. I think Davidson has confidence in who they are, institutionally, while UR still has the occasional dalliance with being "the Harvard of the South" and all of that stuff. You can't do that if you have your "own people" coming back and running things.
come on now. let's not get crazy. we're just the Yale of the South.
