This is a message to the students. When we beat VCU at home tomorrow night - please do not storm the court. Yes - they are a nationally ranked team on our home floor, but that is about it. They are our rival, they are 10 minutes down the street, and we play them twice each year. We also beat them earlier this year on there court - so why this win might be an upset - this is a not a court storming game for us.

Reserve that for when and if an OOC opponent is nationally ranked and comes to the Robins Center.

Lets act like we SHOULD beat them, cause guess what - we already did once this year.

In other words, don't act like K State beating Kansas :). I tend to agree with Trap on this, BUT let college kids be college kids. If this does happen, I full expect to see Moliva wrestling Shaka after "accidentally" bumping him in the melee.

Number 1, need to win the game.

Let them do what they feel is appropriate. You're only there for a short time so you take your shots when you get them.

I am not against court storming, but I think it has its time and place. And beating your rival, who you play twice a year, and is in the same league does not fit the time and place for me. Especially when we already beat them earlier this year.

If we were in the CAA and VCU was in the A10 and we only played once a year and they were nationally ranked and we got them on our home court and beat them - then yes - that could fit a good time to rush the court.

Or getting a national ranked team on our home court from OOC, like say Northern Iowa. If they were to return to the Robins Center next season and are ranked in the top 20 and we beat them at home - yeah, rush the court.

Your right - let college kids enjoy themselves. But lets act like we been there before as well. Granted - its been a while since we been there. But if thats the case - why not storm the court when we beat High Point, Radford, etc. Let college kids be college kids.

Who was it that we stormed for a few years ago? I remember thinking it inappropriate at the time. I don't entirely feel that way this time, and am inclined to say go for it. A sweep is pretty awesome.

Win the game.

Then storm the court. Have fun.

We employ RMC Events, a highly professional company (run by a UR grad) to staff games and avoid what happened last night in Kansas. K State clearly didn't hire a professional company.

PS - LOL @ 23.

I believe it was Temple. They were #19, we were struggling to achieve a winning season. We had Harper, KA, Gonz, and Geriot. We made the post season that year.

I believe a Sweep, a defeat of our arch rival and a victory over a top 25 team counts as a storming event.

Although I would rather discuss this after the fact.

never been into the court storming. personally think should only be done under the most unique circumstances. But who cares. Or who the F cares...shawndre style. it's forgotten within the hour.

the wisest thing said so far, win the game first of all. secondly, depends on how the game was won, a blow out, who cares, but if on a last second shot, by all means. these things are not to be planned, they are spontaneous, they just happen. if it feels like a court storming type of game, no matter the opponent, have at it. espn must have a staff that sends down to the on air personalities what subject is the subject of the day, ham, the nfl, gays, alex rodriequez, ray rice, for example and they just hit on that for every show all day, totally obnoxious. today, it is court storming and again, obnoxious. will only say, i am a stormer and believe in storming, no matter what espn thinks, have some fun.

Don't like this post coming before the game. Let's talk after if we win and it happens.

I don't think you should ever storm the court against your rivals. Puts them on a pedestal, and after one flash-in-pan year they are not on a pedestal by any means. It just screams little brother complex to me.

Doesn't make sense other than if you subscribe to the theory of storming the court after every win for the fun of it. It usually comes after a highly unexpected win but considering we beat them on their court within the past few weeks a victory on our home court would not be out of the ordinary...........

agree somewhat but again depends on the personality of the game. if we make a big comeback and win on a buzzer beater, OK to go crazy and go for it. the entire deal is not worrying about poor little sister, that is rpi, it is about the game and how it plays out to some degree. DT's first game, beating ranked wake, storm city. we can really put too much thinking into this, if it feels right, go for it.

Let's win the game first, and pray for no injuries. After that, let the chips fall where they may.

You think are students are going to maybe a bit more amped up over the SDJ doctored photo, BS? I do. Its our rival, they are ranked, they are obnoxious, yeah, the students are storming the court if we win.

spider26 and Philly, unless you personally had planned on storming the court, this has nothing to do with you. The students are there for 4 maybe 5 years, if they feel it's a big deal have at it.

I appreciate any sign of enthusiasm from the students.

Go Spiders

If you guys win, you should totally storm the court. I'm sure that's what we would have done a few weeks back if we had won. Didn't we do it three times last year too?

Well, I guess that is all hypothetical then, isn't it. You may have stormed the court, you may have not, that question will never be answered, because you lost.

And we will storm the court, if we damn well choose to do so. You can continue to do your choreographed song and dance numbers, have you PA guys shout everything at 200 plus decibels, and jump on your aluminum bleachers at your place to make noise, we will do what we want at our place. Assuredly, it will be a bit different because we are not going for the WWE/circus vibe at the Robins Center.

Haha, and you wonder why you only sell out a couple games a year. The only way you entice non UR connected locals to come are through cheap tickets. I honestly don't understand why you bash VCUs atmosphere, since it works and gets people engaged.

I've been to several UVA games, and of course Minnesota. Both crowds are socially more like UR than VCU, despite being state schools - yet they engage their targeted fans much better.

I just don't think you can storm the court and then seriously consider VCU your current basketball equals. Someone posted above that it screams little brother syndrome. I agree. In my humble opinion court storming is for championships and when someone like App State beats someone like Michigan. SpiderTrap has it right, act like you should beat us. That's how a rival would act. UNC doesn't storm the court after a buzzer beater against Duke.

Hope it's a good game tonight!

Students were great; loud, enthusiastic and enjoyed storming the court. THEY did what they felt like doing not to mention the players seemed to enjoy it as well.

Let them storm the court. RMC handled it well. You're only in college once. If you want to storm the court and show the players that you are saying, "Job well done!" then so be it. Go Spiders.
