Colgate Observations

Fun-filled day at Robins Stadium. A few observations...

-Our offense is better when #30 Pavic is on the field. Terrific blocker. I'd love to see him get a few carries a game.
-Goodall is explosive. I'm glad we decided to feature one of the backs. Good decision.
-For the second time in 4 games, Vergos went off the field for a bit and Marius Young slid over to Center and did a great job.
-That long pass from Lauletta to Brown to put us up 3 scores was a thing of beauty.
-Our last play from scrimmage, the 3rd and 4 run left with Broadus was a God awful play call. Kyle needs to be on the field there.
-Hopefully we are getting our special teams disasters out of the way early this year.
-Brandon Waller continues to be an animal.
-Omar doesn't seem to be getting his name called as much this year. Scheme change?
-David Jones is a dynamic player but he has allowed several long plays the last 2 games by taking bad angles. He needs to be better.

On to Towson, who is coming off Bye. Probably won't be easy.

Our offense is much better with a running game. Garrett can't get away from it. We have the o-line and backs to be a good running team. It really opens up the passing game. Mo is right, I like Pavic in the game.

Defensively, I thought we were solid. Take away the Wilkins fumble and the two special teams disasters and we win the game going away.

Special teams were awful....again. Enough said.

Glad to see we brought some screens back. Even if they don't work it at least slows the pass rush down.

Agree about Pavik, does a great job. I still think almost all of the offensive struggles still go back to the Oline. We were better yesterday but I think we can be better especially from the start. We wore Colgate down in the end but starting fast like against UVa is obviously ideal

Really liked that we played more man coverage. Cant do it too much but using it more adds another wrinkle

Pavik needs more PT. Runs with shoulders low, unlike Broaddus who is straight up and gets no leverage. Special teams are horrible. How does Legg continue to coordinate or not coordinate. Please let someone else try. Almost had 2 other punts blocked. Thought play calling in last half of 4th quarter as regards clock management was poor and London like. were lucky Lauletta did not have 3 more ints in first half. Win looks good but left troubled for future conference games.

Special teams were terrible and Lauletta has got to be better. In the first half he rushed several throws that would have been open if he had just waited another split second which he had time to do. Also missed BB on a fly down the visitors sideline that was wide open and he threw it out of bounds - man coverage with no safety over the top. An average throw is a completion and a good throw is a TD. Got to take advantage when we get BB in man coverage. He settled in for the 2nd half but he needs to play better as the season goes on.

Petersburg band did a nice job.

It's a good thing that we are paying the local high school bands to appear.Every little bit helps with their budgets.It won't be long before Prez Crutcher starts the UR marching band-small group,talented and creative.

We had a band for a short period during the 70's. Use to watch them practice in X lot. There were just a few of them and we would call them The Marching Spider Combo
