Climate change and American Energy

President Biden is been choking domestic oil and gas production. He has refused to issue virtually no new oil and gas leases in the name of global climate change. He has sacrificed the well being of this country on the altar of global climate change.

"President Biden’s Interior Department leased 126,228 acres for drilling through Aug. 20, his first 19 months in office, the analysis found. No other president since Richard Nixon in 1969-70 leased out fewer than 4.4 million acres at this stage in his first term....

“The president said he was going to stop leasing. And he’s been remarkably successful,” said David Bernhardt, an energy lawyer and former Interior secretary"...

"During his first week in office, Mr. Biden imposed an indefinite moratorium on new leases, and Interior required additional reviews on drilling permits for the next 60 days. Since then, the administration has tried only one offshore sale"

The Greenies are at it again. They want the third world to trade energy production and security for total reliance on renewable fuel. Nice.

Here's what has been said about the authors (not unbiased):

The Global Warming Policy Foundation (GWPF) is a charitable organization in the United Kingdom whose stated aims are to challenge what it calls "extremely damaging and harmful policies" envisaged by governments to mitigate anthropogenic global warming.

Lawfare from the environmental left is aimed at destroying our energy security and infrastructure. This article by the New Republic praises Lawfare and the effort to destroy our domestic and energy production.

"Climate change is not a tragedy, it’s a crime.” This refrain, increasingly common among climate activists, encapsulates rising moral outrage at major fossil fuel companies like ExxonMobil, Chevron, Shell, and BP as more information has come to light about their knowledge and conduct regarding global warming....

"A growing movement wants to hold fossil fuel companies accountable for this deception....

"More than 40 states, municipalities, and tribal nations are currently suing fossil fuel companies to make them pay for the damage they’ve caused. After years of frustration, climate litigants are now making meaningful procedural progress and have even notched a first win...."

"President Biden is been choking domestic oil and gas production."

More nonsensical lies from the right-wing screech machine.

The United States leads the world in oil production, by a healthy margin over Saudia Arabia.

"With regards to oil production, the U.S. has held the top spot since 2018.

The U.S. has seen a growth in oil production thanks to technological developments such as hydraulic fracturing and horizontal drilling. This growth has improved the country’s energy security, boosted the economy, and altered the dynamics of the world oil market.

The United States currently produces an unprecedented 13.5 million barrels of crude oil per day, setting a national and possibly global record. With advances in well efficiency, the country’s oil production is expected to continue its upward trajectory over the next two years."

This will be the end of gas powered vehicles in the United States. It requires 69% of all new cars be electric/ hybrid by 2032. This is in the EPAs own words. How stupid is this? And how stupid are the rest of you for falling for it? Please explain how this helps this country?

"The EPA said that under its final rule, the industry could meet the limits if 56% of new vehicle sales are electric by 2032, along with at least 13% plug-in hybrids or other partially electric cars, as well as more efficient gasoline-powered cars that get more miles to the gallon."

Better chance at preventing climate change when Greta Thunberg convinces dear leader Putin to stop blowing up things and polluting the atmosphere.

Leave it to you to do the research, it is there in spades. There is not remotely enough electric capacity to support this by 2032. They know this too. See announcement as part virtue signaling and part a sop to Biden's left wing. Has no relation to reality.

Correct, unless this mandate can be stopped through an election (least likely) or through the courts.

Virginians are being forced to only purchase electric cars starting in 2026. A full ban will be in place by 2035.

"In 2021, Governor Ralph Northam and the Virginia General Assembly approved legislation—the Clean Cars Virginia Bill (H.B. 1965)—that requires the Commonwealth to adopt the State of California’s vehicle emissions regulations and electric vehicle mandates. Virginia can’t customize these policies; it has to implement California’s exact regulations, as written by officials in Sacramento.

At the time this bill was passed, California had enacted an electric vehicle sales mandate, so Virginia was immediately committed to adopting the same policy which will take effect early next year. However, since the bill’s passage, California took this a step further and has now finalized regulations to outlaw sales of gasoline, diesel, flex fuel and most hybrid vehicles. Virginia is committed by the 2021 law to also adopt these more stringent regulations. They will begin phasing in around 2026, concluding with a full ban on sales of new gas and diesel cars and trucks by 2035.

The Virginia Attorney General’s office confirmed to the Associated Press last year that “the 2021 law bound Virginia to California’s regulations...” The same story noted that environmental attorneys concur with the opinion, agreeing that “under current law, Virginia would have to get in line with California.”

According to the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality, “The Clean Car Standards… will eventually require the sale of only new ZEVs in the future.” That means only new electric, hydrogen or other non-tailpipe-emitting vehicles would be available for purchase in the Commonwealth. "

Which of you is willing to give up your gas powered car by 2032? By the way, the Chi-coms are building a massive electric vehicle plant in Mexico, with plans to flood the American market. This new reg will destroy domestic auto manufacturers. But who cares, let's sacrifice everything for the benefit of climate warming caused (if it exists) by the Chi-coms, the Indians and the Russians.

Prove this analysis is incorrect.

"The reason that increasing renewable generation leads to accelerating consumer prices is that an electrical grid must operate with one hundred percent reliability on a 24/7/365 basis. A reliable grid requires a very close match between power supplied and power demanded on a minute-by-minute, and even a fraction of second, basis. But wind and solar sources experience large, unpredictable, and often sudden swings in the power that they supply. Therefore, in a grid using large amounts of power from wind and solar sources, additional costly elements must be added to the system to even out the supply and always match it to the demand. These additional elements are what bring about the increased costs and thus increased consumer prices:

[T]here will be substantial times when no such power is available (e.g., calm nights). Therefore, all or nearly all pre-existing fossil fuel capacity must be maintained, even though some of it may be idle much of the time. Although the fuel cost of the renewables is zero, the operator must pay the capital cost of two overlapping and duplicative systems to the extent of the renewable capacity."

Still waiting.

I'm willing to give up my gas operated car by 2032, because I care about the future of my children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, along with all of the others who aren't my relatives. You only care about yourself, just like Trump. And don't call me stupid for acknowledging climate change, if you don't acknowledge climate change is real you are the stupid one.

All in my immediate family drive hybrids or all ev.
I’m really waiting for Greta Thunberg to go the the UN and insist the world use environmentally friendly weaponry!

You laugh... the Biden Administration is scrapping the current Abrams tank for a lighter tank with a hybrid engine. Sounds great- a lighter tank with a more fuel efficient engine.... However, from what I understand, the army is sacrificing armor and survivability for its new engine design. EVs and Hybrids by design are heavier engines, across all platforms, whether cars, trucks or tanks. Designers sacrifice weight in other areas of the vehicle to accomodate the new engine types.

Britain’s energy commitment to net-0 carbon emissions is wrecking their country. Household electric rates are expected to inrease by 80%.

Did Britain go bankrupt? Did I miss something?

I had vowed to stay off the Gallipoli forum. But I can't help myself.

And Gall: You can still have a gas-powered car in 2032. You won't be forced to give up your gas-guzzling, emission-spouting, lane-clogging, drift-busting macho-man urban assault vehicle. You can own it as long as you like.

And when you trade it in, you can still guy another UAV. In your own words: "It requires 69% of all new cars be electric/ hybrid by 2032." That leave 31% for gas-powered vehicles.

Come on guys, can't we just keep pouring toxic sludge into the rivers, building massive chemical plants, driving Humvees that get 3 miles to the gallon and using aerosol spray cans as often as we want? Climate change is an obvious hoax, how could any of these things be bad for the environment??

Greenpeace is about to have its ass handed to it in a North Dakota court next week. If Greenpeace loses, it would lose its rights to its name in the US.

Fossil-fuel billionaire Kelcy Warren is about to land a knockout punch on Greenpeace.

The pipeline magnate’s company, Energy Transfer ET is behind a lawsuit that Greenpeace says could bankrupt the environmental group’s U.S. affiliate. A courtroom victory, which some Greenpeace officials fear is likely, would be a coda in the nearly decadelong battle between the two sides over one of Warren’s signature projects: the Dakota Access Pipeline.

Power outages occur in Los Angeles. Do you want power outages in Virginia? It's coming.
Heat waves with triple-digit temperatures are unpleasant, though not unusual during the summer in Richmond. Yet Los Angeles’s electric power system suffered widespread failures this weekend as temperatures surged, causing more than 70,000 utility customers in the city and surrounding neighborhoods to lose power, including the Los Angeles Coliseum and Hollywood Bowl.

How many of you want power outages during extreme hot or cold? This is why the transition to green energy will not work. It requires redundant systems to prevent outages. It does not work.

Technology and American Ingenuity will never fix the shortcomings. /s

Nuclear power can save the energy crisis and help curb global warming. But who stands in their way? How many Nuclear power plant licenses have been granted in the past 12 years? Government regulations have all but shut down this segment of industry. The only accident that has ever occurred in the US (3 Mile Island) happened 45 years ago. I can only imagine safety technology has come a long ways since then. Yet libs only argument against nuclear power is concerns about safety.

Sorry folks but we can run the country solely with wind, water, and solar, not yet anyway.

We're still developing geothermal, cold fusion and hydrogen power. Thirty years ago I had a client that was developing a method to burn landfill waste the generate energy, he was very close to meeting EPA standards when he ran out of money. I also see progress on carbon capture which may make most of this moot.

I believe in technology and American ingenuity.

Ever notice that the global warming doomsayers are the same folks that can't turn off the lights when they leave a room? Makes one wonder about their commitment. 😉

Hahaha, do you have documented proof of this?

Thanks for making my point. Your new technology, while promising, ain't there yet.
