No major programs in the field of 32. You pay to host games. So, our dear friends, JMU chose to play at South Carolina Upstate. Not clear how they recover their fee to host the game, their gym holds a whopping 878 seats. I presume it will be a sellout, though.

Things could definitely be worse.

CIT is only for non-BCS schools, so that's why no majors.

All games are at campus sites, and bracket is re-done after each round to help optimize geographic proximity.

I thought both the Mountain West and Atlantic 10 declined to participate as well?

Only 3 teams in this tournament with an RPI above 100. They even let teams like Incarnate Word and Grand Canyon, who are transitioning to D1, in this tournament, and their RPIs are in the low 200s.

The CBI (Mooney's favorite tournament outside of the NCAAs) only has 1 team with RPI above 100, and only one team from a Power 5 conference (Colorado).

Meanwhile, these teams all had RPIs 100 and under and they aren't playing anywhere:
Yale
Florida
Toledo
Michigan
UMass
Memphis
South Carolina
California
Tennessee
Minnesota (suck it, Norwood)
Seton Hall
La Salle

By the way, the 3rd best team in the state according to Phillips from RTD, Virginia Tech, couldn't even get into a tournament? How could that be?
