Cayo is back!

As per usual, you’re missing the point. Some people want to give CM extra credit because he has low turnover on the team. I suspect he has probably better than average turnover with his starters to most any other coach, those guys don’t go anywhere here. Good for him.

But our bench drop off is steep (again, historically). We don’t have a lot of guys on our bench who threaten for significant time. They don’t project as likely D1 transfers up, down or sideways.

It’s not about whether I care about if we keep or lose non-rotation guys. I don’t care. I’m saying the tier2 rotation guys have been few enough in terms of time or quality that it’s not surprising they haven’t transferred.
I would guess K Fore is the only player we have ever had that transferred up.

I know it's fun to push the same narrative, but this is foolish to even type much less to have 23 agree with.
Soft players like a soft environment. Mooney is soft. He may curse behind his hand but he teaches a soft brand of basketball. When a potential rebound hits you in the back of the head, you're playing soft. Just one man's opinion.

LOL if anyone here thinks Oddo went to Louisville to play more? Him scoring 6 points is 6 more than I thought he get. I said it before and still believe he went there to learn from a BETTER coach. Yes, I presumed he wanted to get into coaching. After 4 years with Mooney what more can he teach you. Oddo during his UR time also might have learned plenty of things not to do. No LOL but

Had to look it up but Oddo is a graduate assistant at Akron under John Groce. The same coach who took Illinois to the NCAA's his first years but like most P5/6 programs four years later of no tourney and you lose your job. Look at his resume of 13 years coaching and you see 4 NCAA bids. In MAC he has 3 and the 1 Illini. IMO Groce >>> Mooney.

I look up lots of info and see Louisville played Akron when Oddo was on the team. I'm thinking Mack and Groce know each other well enough for Mack to possibly give Oddo a good recommendation to Groce. Mack was director of b-ball operations at Xavier from 1999-2001. Groce was assistant coach of Xavier from 2001-04 under Matta. Mack returned to Xavier in 2004 as Miller's top assistant. Sometimes it really is a small world with paths crossing.

Every player that comes to UR is smart. I believe Oddo thought his chances moving up the ladder in the coaching fraternity was greater under a coach not named Chris Mooney. Oddo seems to be a good networker. Good for him and hope one day you become a head coach that the U of R can be proud of.

PS ply, this probably was after 2 of his 6 points at Louisville .....

It is kinda funny because Oddo was basically the pro-Mooney spokesman while he was here. Then bolted and now seems to be Louisville through and through.

EL, I still believe he thinks the world of Mooney like we can see most of his players do by not many transfers out. Just think Oddo saw there was greater opportunity going elsewhere.

agreed, it was a smart networking move. I wouldn't look for more in it.
