RICHMOND, Va. (March 8, 2021) – CAA Football has announced that this Saturday’s football game between William & Mary and James Madison in Harrisonburg, Va. has been postponed due to CoVID-19 related protocols within the JMU program.

A decision on rescheduling the game will be made at a later date.
 
Did I see that we’re busing down the morning of? That lessens the risk of a cancelation after we get there, although perhaps better to be proactive and shuffle now if there might be an issue with Elon later in the week.

On the tv broadcast they said morning of bus ride.

#19 Delaware 31, Stony Brook 3

Nolan Henderson completed 18-of-27 passes for 215 yards and three touchdowns as #19 Delaware (2-0, 2-0 CAA) defeated Stony Brook, 31-3. Henderson connected with Mateo Vandamia on a 21-yard scoring strike and also hit Thyrick Pitts with a 21-yard TD pass. Vandamia also picked up a fumble for a score. Pitts finished with a team-best six catches for 95 yards. For the second week in a row, the Blue Hens' defense was dominant, allowing just 272 total yards and a first-quarter field goal while forcing five turnovers. Andrew Pawlowski recorded a career-high nine tackles for Delaware and Dae'Lun Darien had an interception and fumble recovery.

Stony Brook quarterbacks Tyquell Fields and Josh Zamot combined to throw for 174 yards, with Malik Love making five receptions for 45 yards. Randy Pringle paced the Seawolves' defense with seven tackles. SBU fell to 0-2, 0-2 CAA.






Richmond 38, Elon 14

Richmond (2-0, 2-0 CAA) controlled the ball for nearly 42 minutes and earned a 38-14 road victory at Elon. Spiders' quarterback Joe Mancuso passed for 189 yards and 2 TD's and also ran for a score, and Aaron Dykes ran for a team-high 66 yards and a TD as UR piled up 395 yards of total offense. Defensively, the Spiders held Elon to 220 yards and intercepted three passes.

Richmond jumped out to a 14-0 first-quarter lead as Mancuso threw a 10-yard TD pass to Justin Jasper and then scored on a 1-yard run. Elon (1-3, 0-2 ) cut the deficit in half on a 25-yard TD pass from JR Martin to Jackson Parham, but the Spiders responded with 17 straight points to take control.

Tristan Wheeler had a team-high six tackles for Richmond and Xavier Marshall had five stops and an interception. For Elon, Bryce Graves recorded a game-high 15 tackles and 1.5 TFL and Omar Rogers added 12 tackles.

 
Maine 38, #13 UAlbany 34

Joe Fagnano passed for 249 yards and four touchdowns and also ran for 51 yards and a score as Maine (1-1, 1-1 CAA) got past #13 UAlbany, 38-34. Three of the scoring passes went to Andre Miller, who finished with eight catches for a career-high 144 yards. UAlbany (1-1, 1-1 CAA) jumped out to a 10-0 lead on Karl Mofor's 2-yard TD run, but the Black Bears responded with 17 unanswered points and led 17-13 at the half. The teams traded the lead six times during a competitive second half. Mofor scored again from two yards out to put the Great Danes ahead 34-31 with 7:37 to go. Maine responded with a 74-yard drive, capped by a game-winning 10-yard TD pass from Fagnano to Miller with 3:58 remaining.

Mofor finished with a game-high 155 yards and 2 TD's on 30 carries, while quarterback Jeff Undercuffler threw for 147 yards and 2 TD's. Linebacker Danny Damico made a game-high 14 tackles for the Great Danes, while Deshawn Stevens had 12 stops for the Black Bears.

Rhode Island 40, #6 Villanova 37 (ot)

Rhode Island (1-0, 1-0 CAA) scored 10 points in the final 3:37 of rqegulation and then got a 2-yard TD run in overtime by quarterback Kasim Hill to knock off #6 Villanova, 40-37. In his Rams' debut, Hill passed for 246 yards with Ivory Frimpong making eight catches for 122 yards. URI also got 141 yards and 4 TD's on the ground from redshirt freshman Kevin Brown.

Neither team led by more than seven points in the opening half as URI took a 21-14 advantage into the locker room. Villanova quickly tied it on a 76-yard TD run by Justin Covington and expanded its lead to 31-21 midway through the third quarter. Down 34-24, Brown found the end zone for the fourth time on a 1-yard run with 3:36 left to pull the Rams within three. After URI forced a punt, the Rams drove into scoring position and got a 22-yard field goal by C.J. Carrick as time expired to force the extra session. In overtime, VU got a 45-yard field goal from Cole Bunce, but Hill hit Frimpong with a 23-yard pass on the first play and then Hill ran it in from two yards out for the win.

Covington rushed for 141 yards and 2 TD's for the Wildcats, while quarterback Daniel Smith passed for 116 yards and ran for 110 yards and a TD.

 
STATS poll will likely have VMI,Jackson State and UR moving into the Top25.

Moving out of Top25 should be Wofford,South Dakota,Illinois State
