Mentioned this in VCU thread - I think I remember Mooney turned down or was in contention for BC job a while back around the back to back NCAA runs.

I think they have a new AD and with Mooney coming off a de-facto NCAA appearance last year, and a possible appearance or at least bubble team this year - wonder if he gauges any interest? Especially with a big rebuild coming next season, in my opinion.

Don't think BC is able to attract big time up and coming names - but likely more 2nd tier, which is where I think Mooney falls at this point. Someone who could be mentioned for jobs, but likely 3rd-4th choice.

They’re a couple AD’s passed their last inquiry into Mooney, but I have thought the same thing about whether or not Mooney will be a candidate this time around.

if you want BC to hire Mooney, maybe talk him up here instead of saying he's awful.

I do wonder if we don't make the NCAAs this year but narrowly miss out if he does look into other oppurtunities. Dont have a feeling we are having much if any
All 20 BC fans will revolt if they hire Mooney.
What do the dozens of us do?

Some rumors that Beilein may be high on their list.

My first thought was if Mooney does take another job, he would be the first, second, third, fourth, and fifth person I call. Cleveland is already paying him more money then he knows what to do with so its not like he needs another big pay day. Still remember Ray Tate walking across an athletic field to tell me he left for WVU and was crushed. Crazy to think that was 20 years ago and have only two coaching switches since.

Cleveland isn’t paying him he got paid for 19-20 cavs season that’s it & walked away. He could have forced the Cavs to fire him & pay him lot more $ but didn’t. But yes he’s good financially. He’s doing big ten network stuff it’s just a matter of whether he still wants to coach if he does he’ll get a college job easily. Also as mentioned in another thread don’t discount him wanting to rehab Patrick’s image.

We get in the tournament, cubboard here is bare, Mooney goes to BC cheap with incentive laden contract possible but unlikely.
Porter moser is a possibility

Gallipoli last month:
“Moondog was such an idiot. What a terrible coach. I hate the guy.”
Quick drink koolaid. Mooney is a great coach. He is the one of the top coaches UR has ever had. In order of greatness: 1) Tarrant, 2) Wainwright, 3) Mooney, 4) Beilein.

I don't see any way that Mooney would be seriously considered for a higher level job. He does not have the resume. What he does have is a long track record of mediocre performance.

Realistically, what athletic director at a higher level program would analyze nearly 20-years of very average to below average performance and proclaim "Since Mooney didn't regularly win conference titles and championships at the mid-major level, THERE IS NO DOUBT that when we hire him, he will consistently bring home ACC or SEC, Big-10, etc. championships." That is insane!

Mooney isn't going to be hired away unless he leaves for another mid-major or below. And, why would he do that when he has a great, high-paying job with very minimal expectations?

I think a decade of mediocrity would be an upgrade for BC, so maybe they should consider him
And that is Mooney's pitch. It doesn't matter how good we are or how bad we are, I WILL go 21-19 in the ACC every 2 years!
