I came back to this board for the first time in a while and was disappointed to see the top threads are about the stupid billboard and doom and gloom COVID stuff. While covid is certainly a concern (and I do appreciate the updates on other programs and news around the NCAA) we have a Richmond Spiders basketball game on Wednesday night. This is gonna be an awesome year. Let’s get some excitement going about these matchups. I think we roll DM on Wednesday night.

We're winning every game we play in this tournament. The 3,000 fans who show up every night are going to get their money's worth from us.

Kentucky will be even tougher than I thought. They have experience with Sarr from Wake inside and Creighton transfer at guard. The Kentucky game is the one we miss Nick most. We need his savvy and shooting for this one, I dont think we will have a ton of success attacking the basket. Will be interesting to see Burton's impact. If he can do well in this one it bodes well for him for the rest of the season

I predicted Kentucky by 35 in the other thread. Sorry folks. I'll do better next time.

Sheesh...how many errors can they fit in one tidbit from the game notes?

This will be the first time the Spiders open a season away from home under Chris Mooney. The last time UR played its season opener away from home was 2004, when the Spiders lost on the road to Seton Hall. The last time UR opened a season at a neutral site was 1984, when the Spiders beat Tampa at the Cavalier Tip-Off Tourna- ment in Charlottesville, Va.

As I mentioned in another post a week ago maybe, we opened the 2007 season on a neutral court against Maine in Memphis, under Mooney. We also opened the 2003 season on a neutral court in Tucson against Mississippi Valley State.

And the incorrect mention of Seton Hall in 2004 itself has an error...we won that game 77-71 behind a monster game from Steenberge. I remember well listening to that one online.
