Can be a good surprise or disappointment - but wondering as we are a few games in - any surprises that stand out so far with the experienced Spiders?

I’d say Grace and Sal have been pleasant surprises. Both look like they’ll give good minutes this year instead of just resting Golden/Cayo.

So far: Burton.

We all know he has a ton of potential, and we have heard Mooney hype players and then they don't really pan out a la Duinker.

My biggest fear was ability or inability to replace Sherod, and specifically Sherod's shooting. Burton is providing that, while staying aggressive, rebounding and playing D. Playing confident and not afraid to take the shots. Biggest unknown coming into the season was how we would replace Sherod. Burton has stepped in and filled in with his game, and meshing with his teammates. Great attitude, humble and fit in with the team, yet aggressive and assertive. Keep it up!

I'd probably put Sal number 2. To me Grace is doing the exact same things backing up Golden as last year, and after a solid start regressed last game.

Disappointment: Weir so far. But just mildly, just needs to take care of business and earn some minutes. Really, really need him to develop some this year, so we can avoid a gap year as a team next year.

Cayo's dominant start surprised me.
Gilyard shooting 24% from 3 shocks me. that will improve.
Sal and Matt have flashed, but it's not enough yet to be a surprise.
Burton doesn't surprise me either, though 9.0 rpg exceeds expectations.
I guess 4-0 is a mild surprise with Kentucky on the schedule.

It's Burton for me. Gilly and Grant are doing there thing as expected and playing really well but Burton has flashed every game that he not only has improved significantly but he might be our best player.

I need to see a larger sample size from Burton to firmly declare that but every game I've seen (didn't see the Wofford game), but when you watch the game, Burton is every where out there.

Cayo has gotten off to a great start as well which is another surprise.

Disappointments, the freshman class. Two haven't played and I've liked the cup of teas we've seen from Wilson but he really isn't playing that much either. Granted, they have a lot of talent in front of them.

Hey, Dji got four minutes against Morehead!

But yes, I'd hoped we could have seen more from the frosh, although it's still early in the season. Hard with the amount of senior talent we have ahead of them, so their time will come, but we need some big blowouts to give them a chance to get their feet wet.

I guess one of my disappointments is that despite a 4-0 record with a win over UK, we still haven't put together a complete game. This team is so experienced and was clicking so well at the end of last year that I'd hoped they could pick right up where they left off. Obviously there's been a lot of craziness out of their control over the past nine months, but as crazy as it sounds, I feel like we could be playing better right now.

Said it before, but as well as Cayo has started, I am concerned about his yo yo free throw shooting. Its only 4 games, so I'm hoping that he can regain lasts years consistency when he was top ten in the league. It does seem to me that he was more deliberate last year and is a little more rushed this year.
