Tonight, right here in Richmond, the Virginia Class 6 Basketball Championship is being held. It's a chance to go see a game at the Siegel Center without all the annoying side effects!
The Lake Braddock Bruins are playing in their first ever state basketball final. Two seasons ago, after struggling to a 1-4 start, their coach scrapped everything and went to a radical system. Constant full-court press, run all the time, mass substitutions, everybody shoots a ton of 3s and layups.
A chaotic style has this high school team topping 100 points — and driving opponents crazy
Their star player, Quentin James, was unanimous Patriot Conference player of the year. He broke Hubert Davis's all-time scoring record at Lake Braddock. He has committed to Davidson.....to play football. The system helped a football player break a record held by a UNC star and NBA player.
"Oh Quentin, there's a Mr. McKillop on the phone."
I'm fascinated by this story (not just because of homerism). I'll be there tonight so I can see this system in action live. I'm sure there are a dozen reasons why this could never work in the A10, but I don't know. It sounds like what Loyola Marymount ran years ago. What do y'all think?
Add Metress to the list.

“We’ve never really had a problem with anyone buying into this system,” James said. “Because the fact that everyone has the green light, what high school are you going to go to where everyone is allowed to shoot the ball without consequences?”
