Around the A-10: 2024–25 Edition

SLU and Loyola both lose by 1 point on last second winning shots after being unable to block out during initial missed shots ..

Mark Schmidt continues to prove that he's the best overall A10 coach .. Beats VCU by 2 with a shot around the 4 second mark. 13-1.

And URI ends all non-conference momentum by getting drilled by Duq.

Schmidt & Bonnies I think have won 6 of 7 vs vcu. At least someone can do it. Moon going to be at 36 games total & I doubt he’s ever even hit 3 of 4.

Saint Louis beats Saint Joseph’s 73-57. What has happened to the hawks? This was supposed to be their most talented team in years and have been very disappointing thus far.

Well, Lange was head coach at Navy for 7 years. .449 winning percentage. But he was an assistant to Jay Wright, so of course he had to be great. I know one of the Philly fans on this board told us that as well. But surprise surprise, he is still a sub .500 coach. And yes, they have a lot of talent. Large sample size now for Billy Lange.

Coaching matters - Schertz is much much better than Lange. .784 winning % realizing the majority of it was at D2 Lincoln Memorial before he got the Indiana State job.

I like the hire. In general I like the guys that have won at lower levels as a HC, then move up a level and keep winning. JB classic example at Richmond. I remember when JB was hired, was living in Roanoke, knew nothing about him. I was a business event/grand opening - and the Va Tech HC was there and chatted with him and asked about JB. He was very much a fan and said we got a great one. Fast forward to my conversation with that former HC many years later, when I asked about Mooney. Answer wasn't about Moon's ability, but rather he had the best job in America. Best job in America and we get 3 NCAA's in 20 years. Ughh. If I had motivation would drive an hour and half to Amherst and heckle him, but alas I am too much like mooney :):):).

Wow, a whole 10-spot drop for Dayton from 44 to 54. Considering GW was 151, still seems like they got off pretty easy.

I find it interesting that after 2 games in a 15 team conference, only 3 team are undefeated.
if there really is parity this year, I wonder if 10-8 might get a team the 4th spot double bye.

Don't look now, but SLU is probably playing better than anyone in the conference now. Schertz may be the best coach. Very good hire IMO. Another year or two of success at Indiana state and he may jump the A10.
really not a surprise. Blue Ribbon had SLU preseason #1 in the A10. only issue was when Avila was out, but he's back.

3 games in, only 1 A10 team is undefeated. everyone is beatable. 10-8 or 11-7 can get the double bye. that's the goal now.

Dayton loses to NET 262 and only drops seven spots, from 55 to 62. Amazing. Whatever they are doing to game the system, we should figure it out.
Well, they actually play a legit OOC schedule and then win on that schedule. 2 things we seem incapable of doing. But yeah, a Q4 loss should drop your more than 7 spots.
