I was wondering if Spider royalty was going to make an appearance. We have missed your insights. Have you ever done a basketball "fireside chat"?
Still the rudest set of fans I have ever seen set foot on this board and that was in 2008 before you could say F U from a mobile phone. Make VCU fans look like choir boys.
Were they really that bad? I always think of midwesterners as pretty mild mannered people.
If I recall, that was before the Board placed controls on pictures. One guy posted 500 separate porn pictures, if memory serves me.
I never have anything nice to say about VCU so I don't think I am being hyperbolic in my assessment. Can't speak for the in person experience but heard some stories that the fans in person weren't much better than what they encountered on the boards.
Illinois State fans are obnoxious too. It's something about the MVFC, all riding the Bison's coattails.
NDSU fans get a good rep, but they're pretty arrogant, too. I guess winning 8 of the last 9 NC's will do that.
Ha! regarding "fireside chat" thanks for asking...I think I got that question one other time years ago now...I tried a couple of times, but basketball is too much work...32+ games...this is a hobby...
there was one time I remember...it may have been 10 years ago...Spiders had a giant game against Temple in Philly...I had a great "fireside chat"...we got beaten by about 30 points...many of the posters at that time felt I damaged the team's mojo!😁
Gallipoli: I've noticed over the years you have quite a skill yourself...reinforcing the obvious in a humorous way...was this a learned skill, or were you born with it?

About my humor on this board, I found that it was the only way I can skewer those calling for the utter destruction of our basketball program. On an elevator, I met a young, newly elected legislator in Tennessee. The poor guy was so uncertain of himself, he kept repeating these motivational platitudes to himself. I asked him if he ever played basketball, he said yes. I started teasing him about the wrinkle in his suit, and he looked like he was going to cry. I really feltvsorry for him. So, I started quoting him in my posts. I can't get upset at players or coaches who are trying their very best. I mean a billboard, really? I digress. Go spiders.

If I ever root for a team that goes on this type of roll, your damn straight, I would be one arrogant and self righteous SOB and be proud of it. I think it is the nature of fans. See Virginia Tech back in their hey day. UVA basketball fans are developing a strong bit of self-righteousness now too.
Fortunately, I root for Philly teams, the Spiders, and Penn State, so I'm pretty well protected from that ever happening.
It looks like UNI has only eight scholarship players available, plus three walkons. They have their 2 best players out.

Our defense is really struggling against penetration again tonight. That's a very bad sign. We were good on defense last year because we fixed that problem but haven't been too good at this year. You cant be a good team defensively if you cant stop dribble penetration straight up!
And the formerly famous offensive drought leads to an 11-0 run.
Better clean up our game. This is a well coached, disciplined team thats not going to beat themselves. Mooney appears to be searching for a lineup that works.
Horrible 8 minutes. No FG in that spam. Many turnovers. gave up offensive a lot of dribble penetration; gave up offensive rebounds; horrible offense leading to bad shots. I actually thought this group with its talent and experience would be somewhat immune to these extended periods that have historically killed us.

Someone needs to hand out the caffeine at half time. Two games in a row flat. Not a big Grace fan like most on this board. Slow, has POINT BLANK lay up and passes it out. Again, please recruit some athletic bigs. At least we get Matt Smith at half time
Gonna keeping tooting Gilly's horn...8 points, 5 assists, a steal, and no turnovers when everybody else on the team can't keep a handle on the ball.
