All in on Aleem

thanks, Ulla. glad to see something even if it's like the smallest sample size ever! doesn't answer whether he's a good shooter or not based on FTs and 3's, but definitely looks like he got to the hole.

Here is a link to a few stats found on Aleem; most interesting is he made 62.2% of his field goal attempts. Keep in mind that he played on the same team with Jon Isaacs, a 5-star C/PF and other 4- and 5-star guys. OSC

Hope that he is a great shooter. I will bet that he is not. Not interested in arguing about it, all I am saying is:

high school shooting stats for a player who is bigger and stronger than most of his competitors mean very little. Most bigger players in high school are shooting primarily close in shots (dunks, follows, short range) over competitors who are not as big nor as athletic. The question of whether a big man is a better than average shooter can not be accurately assessed by examining their high shooting stats.

His game reminds me of Deion Taylor. That's all I am saying. To each his own.

maybe, but right now he looks like one of our best two options. Deion's offensive stats are not Aleem's ceiling. I think we'd be very fortunate to get his commitment. we have a serious need at big forward.

How come Aleem only has two pages so far? Wesson has 19 and we know he's not coming here!

Are we really all in on this?

In all seriousness what do we think are our odds on this one?

Not sure what the odds would be on getting Aleem, but you would think a big would love the incoming recruits we already have and would like to be playing with them for 4 years

K, agree. It would be a great situation for both Aleem and Brachen. Throw in the incredible Robins Center and a trip to Europe this summer, and you got a great deal! OSC

I'm all in on Aleem. Looks like a really good prospect. The comparisons to Deion are ridiculous. Deion's h.s. mix tape looked great and he had a really good freshman year prior to his injury. Both look like tremendous athletes, and Aleem's tape he looks very fluid and appears to have a good bball IQ.

The hoop blog mentions he is down to hofstra and the spiders I think? I took my son out to see Stony Brook this week, and we drove by Hofstra to look around. No comparison obviously on campus, facilities etc. Now your talking CAA vs A10 too. If Mooney loses this one then Mihalic did work on him big time. Of course they have a beast of a big man that Mihalic beat out Hurley and URI for, so we shall see. I see Aleem as a great fit to play along Sherod, Buckingham, Golden and our current players.

One thing Hofstra has going for them over UR is proximity. Aleem is from Newark, so not a long haul to get to Hofstra vs us.

On paper we should win this recruiting battle so hopefully he doesn't care a ton about distance to home.
