Kendall made the first-team all A-10 and ShawnDre was named the Sixth Man of the Year. Congrats!

Congrats to Kendall and SDJ. I think we all knew Kendall was going to be (well everyone except for our RTD beat writer), but SDJ being 6th man was a surprise and tells you a lot about what the other coaches in the league of him. Agree on the omission of Terry.

How do you give the defensive player of the year award to a guy who played in less than half of the league games?

I'll take Terry over any of the first teamers. He scores, rebounds, steals passes, and sets up transition buckets. He does it all. I think he's a big part of the reason, we're on this win streak.

Yes, I know somewhat rhetorical question. At any rate, I'm sure RPI is pretty ticked that Graham didn't get POY and none of their 52 Top 100 freshman made all rookie team.

That's only because all of the other freshmen in the league were playing in their Super Bowl. Every game. All season long.

Congrats Kendall and Shawndre! I think we will see Allen on one of the teams next year and maybe Alonzo on the defensive team as well.

These All Academic teams are pretty pointless. They'd be better off having all the players compete in a game of Jeopardy and recognize the 5 highest scorers with a postseason award.

As much as I despise all thinks RPI, I do have to give Mo Allie-Cox a lot of credit to have gone from a partial qualifier to A10 all-academic is quite an achievement.

I think it is hilarious that all the Lamb fans have been saying that Treveon Graham was a shoe-in for A10 POY. I do think Tyler Colonoscopy from Davidson deserved to be POY.

I'm glad this "Colonoscopy" thing is catching on. Did you like the way he snapped his rubber gloves and got elbow deep for the RPI game last Thursday night?

Very true. I shouldn't be dismissive. Good for Mo.

And, yet, I do think the game of jeopardy would be pretty hilarious.

I disagree. I think it says something about athletes that spend a significant amount of time playing a sport and at the same time can also be high achievers in the classroom. I believe it's a nice point of recognition. Kudos to them!

^^Here's my beef. They playing field is completely uneven.

Is an A in art courses at RPI more impressive than a B in Business School courses at UR? Moreover, is a B- in International Studies at UR more impressive than a C+ in Computer Science at UR?

I do know that Kendall is on the honor roll at UR. I don't know what he majors in, but based on what I know about UR, that should have him as a contender for All Academic team.

Exactly, kids at UR, Davidson, GW get shafted for the academic rigors of their institutions over kids at VCU, Mason, Rhody.

Terry should have definitely been on the third team. Problem is that he just does things quietly. He doesn't try to thunder dunk over everyone or try to block shots up in to the stands and beat his chest while doing the punk stare down. He just scores and turns around and goes to defense. He will tough to stop next year.

Exactly, kind of confused actually how opposite those twos votes went.

TA was top 15 in the league in rebounds, steals, FG% and FT%. He was 18th in PPg. That should make him at least one of the top 15 guys or third team.

Attica! Attica!

As much as Terry Allen be recognized in top 3 tiers how about Deon Taylor for one of the all defensive team mentions. DT has played pretty consistent all year from a defensive standpoint and also Trey Davis usually is given the toughest guard or forward. If Zo had not been injured would he had gotten consideration.

I think a team that keeps the other team to low offensive numbers other then total rebounds should have had someone considered for the all defensive team. "Thats just my two cents!"

ANO would have been all A-10 defensive team had he not been hurt, in my opinion. Deion closed the season well playing really good defense at times, but if you watched him all year, you would see that he fouls a lot and gets beat a fair amount as well. Plus, he doesn't block shots, create turnovers, or get a lot of steals.

I think there is natural inclination that since Deion is terrible offensively, that he has to be some fantastic defensive asset. I know Mooney thinks that, but watching him all year, Deion is a good/above average defensive player, but far from all A-10 defensive level. If your an all A-10 defensive team candidate, you are game changer on defense. Deion is not a game changer on defense.

No one can push back Deion. He is really strong and has been a valuable man in the middle on defense. He defects a lot of passes too that do not show up in stats as well. He fits at the moment and seems confident on D and pretty smart on offense in not trying foolish things. A net plus I think.

Agree that we have 3 potential A10 all-defensive players (ANO, DT, and TD), I really think ANO would have been on the all-defensive team had he not been hurt. However, getting hurt doesn't seem to take you out of consideration if your name is Briante, and you have the RPI public relations and marketing machine behind you ("We know Briante is hurt, and missed half the A10 season, what's your point?).

I do think DT has really stepped up his D since ANO went out. I can see him becoming a Maurice Lucas-type of enforcer next season if he continues to get stronger and adds more upper body muscle. The physical transformation between his freshman year and now is impressive (and may be a contributor to his poor shooting, my HS coaches never wanted us to lift, especially during the season, they thought it messed up our shooting motions). He is very solid, albeit not spectacular in our defensive scheme, and his contributions have helped us become a defensive force over the past month or so.

Agreed, Deion is a great fit at the moment. I did not think he was a net plus most of the season, but since Zo has gone down, he has stepped up his game on defense and that has been critical to our success.

since Zo went out, he's defending inside more where he can use his strength to his advantage.

Taylor is quicker to loose balls and scramble situations than ZO. I think he has had some very important defensive plays at the end of games since ZO went out. He also seems to have a good sense of when to go for the block and when to stand his ground. He was our "next man up" when the team needed him and certainly deserves credit for that.
