The Doghouse
It looks like they caught a person of interest in the shooting of United Health's CEO, Brian Thompson, last week. His name is Luigi Mangione. He is from Baltimore, where he attended a high end prep school. He went to UPenn for undergrad and graduate school. They arrested him at Mc Donalds in Altoona, PA. He had a 9mm handgun that was created with a 3D printer and a silencer.

I'm only disappointed that NY doesn't have the death penalty, because this loser would be dead within a few years. Anyone justifying what he did because they don't like the insurance industry (and most of us probably agree it's a disaster) is an idiot in my book.

Just a guess. Because he is a disturbed, violent left wing loon who believes the model of efficiency is government and a single payer system will bring health, prosperity and equity like we have never known to all?

Given the money his family has, he probably grew up a country club conservative. A Republican, just like the guy in Pennsylvania who took a shot at Trump.

Glad that you are OK with UHC regularly denying claims out-of-hand, not paying vendors and earning $22 billion last year.

Going through some medical issues now (not major, no worries). My docs have told me that Medicare is the easiest health-care vendor to work with.

But many find him cute, sexy, and a call to healthcare equity and freedom. A regular cream jean guy. Sigh.

In reality, he shot an innocent man in the back like a coward. A cold blooded murderer.

Left needs to get the story straight or not gonna win much. Winning is power, power is policy. Move to the center or suffer the consequences. Suppose already have given last election.

I don't think this is a left vs. right issue. This is a lunatic executing someone in public. Not sure how anyone can be ok with it, regardless of party affiliation.

First paragraph, pure conjecture.
Says the guy who wrote this:

"Because he is a disturbed, violent left wing loon who believes the model of efficiency is government and a single payer system will bring health, prosperity and equity like we have never known to all?"

Talk about conjecture.

And I am certainly not condoning the shooting (here's a hint: legally it's not murder until someone is convicted of murder).

Par. #2, pure conjecture. The guy didn't even have UHC as his insurer. He just wanted to murder someone in cold blood.

Par #3, Medicare is good for coverage, it is a somewhat good payor. They can be draconian when they think they have overpaid a provider. It is also a good idea to have a secondary insurance to cover everything else, including co-pays and surgeries that arise.

No. 2 is not conjecture. Our local hospital group finally refused to take UHC insurance because they would not pay their bills. They did not turn away patients obviously but would not honor UHC insurance.

UHC did just buy a local clinic unaffiliated with the hospital. Staffers immediately fled because no one wanted to work for them. They are a horrible company.

I do have an excellent secondary insurance. However, they just denied a test that my doc said Medicare would have approved with no problem.
