Every time I would switch from UR/GW to VCU/UMass I was amazed that for first time
I was not watching VCU employ Havoc after a made shot. I guess they are so thin
on bench, they could not afford foul trouble.

UMass will be a tough game as they have size and length, but not a great outside
shooting team. They also had tendency to turn ball over. We will need to get back
to our A game.

Hard to press after a made shot when you only shoot 32% from the floor and 29% from 3. This VCU team does not shoot well (outside of Bones getting hot).

It’d be nice if they could win a few and not tank the NET of every possible at large in the league. They played us, URI, and Dayton all 2x

Yep. They are 4-2 in their last 6, with the losses by 6 to Rhode Is and 8 to Dayton.
Another way to look at it. They are 11-4 at home, 2-11 away from home with the only wins being Fairfield & Fordham.
Let's hope location actually means something.

We can't overlook anyone. But we are a much better team than UMass.

We were a much better team than a lot of the tomato cans we lost to last year. I dont trust Mooney to win clutch games. And this coming game is important.

and which of the next 6 games are not?

Their Freshman is good. Maybe that is why he had offers from
UConn, Notre Dame, Creighton, Georgia Tech, Arkansas, Kansas St, Illinois, Iowa St, Louisville, Syracuse, Indiana, Tennessee, Xavier and 8 other P5
before UMass hired his HS coach as an assistant.

UMass is a team gaining confidence, don't overlook them
The team and coaching staff can't overlook them. However, if as fans, we are worried about a sub. 500 UMass at home, than teams like Davidson and Duquesne are even bigger worries.

Are we sitting on the bubble or not? Do we want to dance or not? Greatest class ever is gonna smoke these dudes this weekend.

A bit less depth...
"BAPTISTE OUT — Center Djery Baptiste is out indefinitely with knee pain, McCall announced after the game."

more to the story.....

We've talked about the downright weird pampering of Tre Mitchell with the decisions Matt McCall has made over the last few months. Hiring Mitchell's former high school coach who is also his mom's boyfriend, signing Tyrone Weeks and Preston Santos, two of Mitchell's teammates in high school...

In continues even more these last few weeks. UMass's first 2020 recruit is Cairo McCrory, Mitchell's former teammate from Woodstock and they've recently picked up another Woodstock player in Cleveland State transfer Dibaji Walker.

My question, have we ever seen a program bend over backwards as much as UMass has to almost transform their program around one recruit? It's almost sickening to me. I don't know much about Tre Mitchell, but based on what UMass has done, this kid is being pampered wayyyy too much (or is it just me?)

I don’t know anything about the other players that are connected to Mitchell who they are bringing in, but are they any good?

The high school coach getting a job because of a top recruit happens A LOT in the ncaa (basketball and football). If the other players are good, then maybe it is more Mitchell creating an opening to better talent, which I wouldn’t blame them for. If they’re no good, then yes, I’d tend to agree that they’re doing it to just keep Mitchell happy (which I would say is very short sighted).

I remember when Dajaun Wagner was a high school star in 2000, it was common knowledge that he would be a package deal with his HS teammate best friend Arthur Barclay. Calipari took them both at Memphis.

Wagner was one and done. Barclay stayed and graduated. Averaged 2 ppg. Wagner's kid is now a HS freshman phenom and will be a high major recruit in a few years.

So.....we should start working on his HS teammates? :)

As I predicted. Davidson is playing better recently as well, but again we beat them pretty handily down there earlier and we are playing for something meaningful, Davidson is not really playing for anything at this point. We are better than Davidson playing our last home game of the year.

I think greatest class ever is gonna do some more smokin on Tuesday.

Lets hope Davidson plays like they did on 2/18 @ St Joe
and Duquesne like they did on 2/19 at home vs GW...
