JOC talked to McGlade...nothing to announce yet, but they're close to coming up with criteria for seeding that accounts for uneven number of games.

Says A-10 intends to bring all schools to the tournament, but leaves open possibility that it may not. Confirms that if a school won't meet the 13-game minimum needed for NCAA tournament eligibility, they won't play in the A-10 tournament either.

Interesting…WCC has partnered with KenPom to create a seeding model for their tourney.

The A-10 is going to schedule the top teams against each other over the last 3 weeks, interspersed with the other teams.

The challenge is that you don't want to mess with the standings and seedings by doing that and end up with UMass as the 1-seed because they played Fordham four times.

The A10 favorite probably won’t even get a top 4 seed in A10. All our eggs r going in the 4 in 4 days league tournament that may not even go to completion!

Right now we r a 6 seed. need 3-0 to have any chance at a top 4 bye. Oof.

If it did end of like this, would that be that bad?

Compared to where we expected? Yes! Compared to now, maybe not.

If we r outside top 4 and then could face umass in quarters with a Win yes I’d take that.

Certainly there will be changes in the next 3 games or so.

Just stinks to be in this position of weakness hoping to get easiest path of an unlikely 4 game a10 tourney win streak rather than trying to solidify a NCAA seed.

How did UMass win today without playing?

The A-10 site is all jacked up...they have the 12/16 UMass-La Salle game in there twice.

They also show us with an extra win because they have us down as beating both Duquesne and La Salle today.

So La Salle gets doubly shafted...they have an extra loss to UMass and a phantom loss to us today in addition to their actual loss to St. Joe's.

If we win three more games, we get a top-4 seed. It's that simple.
I just glanced at them, but the way the schedule is set for now (if the one I looked at is right and does not change again), Spiders could win three and end up as the only 3 loss team in conference. A lot of the top seven teams in standings are mixed together playing each other between now and end of regular season. I did not go in the weeds to deep to see what winning percentages would be for each if they had 4 losses each, excepting 72.7% for Spiders by winning out and only having three.
Our cause in the NET also was not helped IMO by Duke beating UVA tonight.

Well we play SLU and UMass, who are currently 6-2 and 4-3. If we win the next 3, we finish 8-3. UMass would finish no better than 8-3 and actually I think they only have two games left anyway -- us and SLU. SLU would have four losses if we beat them. We also have the tiebreaker over Davidson if they lose again down the stretch.

Davidson (6-2)has Bonnie twice, and VCU
Bonnie (8-3) beside Davidson has GW and Dayton
VCU (9-3) has STL and Davidson
UMass (6-2) has Spiders and SLU as you said.

Again if the schedule I looked at from ESPN is correct and if it does not change.

That's all I'm hoping for a top 4. Whatever reason Bernie gave UR a softer schedule it helps. With the Spiders compromised resume (by their own doing) didn't think they were in the mix for an at-large. If Mooney's team is legit, they got a helping hand with winning the A10 tourney.

We have to beat St Louis at their place, I don't like the odds of that happening. Where would we be if we win the other two games and have the St Louis game canceled?

EL, was thinking only go 2-1 and in good shape for top 4 unless I really don't understand the dual seeding process?

Scenarios with UR 2-1 finish
Spiders go 2-1
UR 7-4

UMass loses to UR and StL
UMass 6-4

Davidson goes 2-1
Davidson 7-4 UR holds tiebreaker

So Bonny, them, StL and Mooney's team get top 4. Just realized Kenny had the work for me with their projections.

I believe when Mooney's coaching career is over at UR, he should incorporate the famous Lou Gehrig line in his farewell speech.

PS Minus the terminal illness of course!

You're right, we don't have to win all 3 to get a top 4 seed, I was just saying that if we do it's guaranteed. But in all likelihood, the path you described is very possible too.
