#6/8

Pretty much figured one poll incongruously would have the Barneys ranked ahead of us and AGS did not disappoint in that regard - what are they smoking?

What's funny is most of the discussion in the AGS thread is about how UR should be above JMU and voters showing their ballots with UR on top. Those with JMU over UR are keeping quiet.

can anyone who registers on that site vote? if so, then you have or can have a ton of predjudice with that deal. still trust PA but anyone else on there, not so sure.

Must have a certain number of posts. All the votes for number one can't be from their own fans. Moderator verifies as many votes as he can. (Like did you mean Jacksonville State #2 not Jacksonville...)

I was one of 100 or so voters from 2007-2012, but I got too busy keep up with all the teams.

I also think the quality has taken a dip since the championshipsubdivision.com site opened. The posters split and bias stopped canceling each other out as much as in the past.

JMU over UR is "slot voters". They won't drop or raise a team but so far in one game. (Look at previous week)

I am harder on Spiders than most but I had us at five and JMU at 7. I stil cannot buy into Chattanooga hype. I would not read too much into the placement. We have come a long way since day one. I love the way this team is earning respect. No poll matters like he one in January.

I also used to be a voter. I think they do a pretty good job (better than the coaches for sure). But hey, it's a poll, and we have playoffs, so what do polls matter? :)

Not defending AGS poll, as I said the quality has dropped. However every year that there were 16 playoff teams, AGS polls had more of their top 16 in the field than either of the others.

The coaches poll is not bad this year but has had the most head scratchers in the past. Mainly because it is filled out by the SIDs who have seen very few teams and would vote by record regardless of SOS. So I'm surprised Dayton isn't top 5 this year.

However the good thing is the committee hasn't used any of the polls in years. Which has led to fans being angry when the committee seeds their team 8 places lower than any of the polls.

What is AGS and why does it matter? OSC

I dont post on AGS, but am on it daily during the football season. I like it because an an FCS fan, I can learn about teams from different conferences that are not covered much here locally like the MVC, SoCon, and Big Sky. I think its a good source of information for FCS football fans.

tnygivensaturday still seems the most active, but 2007-2009 there seemed an equal number of Montana, Northern Iowa, Delaware, and Appalachian ST fans that had a bias but knowledgeable view of their own region and could give somewhat objective insight of the other three.

IMHO, I really like the AGS poll. I think it is credible, not perfect. Those who participate seem to take it seriously.

I agree AGS seems to give the best overall coverage because it seems to have knowledgeable posters from each region/conference -- like any other message board you have to filter some things out.

AGS is still my go to board. Back in UR's heyday ('07-'09) it was pretty well dominated by SoCon posters (Appalachian State) and now it's MVFC-heavy (NDSU) but there is a good variety of participants from all over the country, including the CAA.
